My lovely lady needs help with her iphone mail please help (-;

What is Imap, my lovely lady has somehow put Imap between her and her aol mail. Can I get rid of Imap for her on her iPhone I do hope so, she is starting to panic.

You shouldn't have lost it, it will still be on the main server.

IMAP

An IMAP client synchronizes the e-mail on your computer with the contents of your account on the e-mail server, while a POP account simply downloads the inbox.


IMAP copies messages from the server instead of deleting them; when you use IMAP, an e-mail message is only removed from the e-mail server when you choose to delete it. Instead of moving messages from the server to your computer, IMAP synchronizes your computer with the e-mail server. With a POP account, if you download a message and move it to another folder within your Mail Client, it is still in your webmail, marked as unread.


If you were to check your e-mail from three different computers via IMAP, all three of those computers, and the e-mail server, would contain all of your e-mail. If you chose to delete a message from computer A, it would also be removed from computer B, computer C, and the e-mail server.

If you have the email address and password saved elsewhere

reinstall it on the I phone
you may have to uninstall/delete aol first

Great info guys, I’ve just got my mail app to work again after many months with using the AOL desktop site.
As suggested I deleted the blue envelope app on my iPhone and reinstalled it. Tho I did no my password.
I did some research on google a few times but couldn’t make sense of it but your help was invaluable.

Thank you so much chaps, many brownie points after reading your advice. Basically I was suspecting that imap was the enemy and was set on getting rid of it when all it required was an imap password. Yes I am that thick. Thanks.....
