We are off to the Mosel again next month.

Trier is worth spending a day looking around in general and the Roman landmarks, but a lot are closed on a Monday.
Cochem is a must for the castle which has an English speaking tour at 1pm as I remember.
If you pitch up at Reil, then Punderich is a pretty village to wander around. We cycled around to the chain ferry to cross the river to the village.
Visit the Globus shopping complex at Zell and sample the various foods on sale.

Trier - Burnkastel Kues - Cochem. Boppard - is strictly on the Rhine but great for ferry across to Rudeseim, the Asbach factory and famous Drosselgasse alley
Buy some fuel at Remich in Luxemburg before you set off down the Mosel.
Its a long river with lots of bends and lots of Stellplatz but non are free

Back in 2018 when we were there last, most Stellplatz were on average around the 8 euro and night mark and double that plus for campsites.
The Stellplatz on the outside of the campsite by the river at Koblenz was 18 euros and the campsite was packed and costing 36 to 45 euros a night. :Eeek:

I think Trier was the most expensive you have to buy a card that lets you in plus a card for water.,it was around 10-12 euros but that was before COVID subsequent stellplatz were cheaper except for the one at the Koblenz where the mosel meets the Rhine

Yes, thank you
Hands up who is NOT going to the Mosel in Sept? See you all there? , Trier is worth a look round Sandra the *Stelpllatz/aire* is by the river on your way in and its huge! You may find that as you venture up the river the stellplatz get busier, if you get as far as the Rhine be aware that the main railways and roads run right by most campsites, it can be rather noisy at times

There's a cracking little motor museum at Bernkastel Kues

Lots of post war German DKW, Horst, Mercedes etc, some unusual micro cars and a whole lot of motorcycles

Lovely town to visit as well

Enkirch is a lovely little village/town, big stellplatz along the riverside to watch the boats go by €10 per night, nice cycle path along the riverside and walks up into the vines.

✋ We are planning to turn left off the ferry this year.
This is assuming the weather forecast is ok
irnbru I will pass on recommending anywhere particular on the Mosel as there are lots of options and would go along with the previous recommendations. ( I would say all are better than Hawick but I am a Pailmerk so I'm bias)

Eltz Castle is supposed to be very nice, I have added it to our list to visit in September 😺

There seems to be a stellplatz close by that you can walk to the castle from, it costs €4 for 24 hours at the Stellplatz and €8 to park in the castle car park.

Not quite on the Mosel but if you want a wine fest this has to be experienced.
There are lots of smaller ones most weekends in September

We enjoyed the Mosel. Cochem was touristy but pretty with nice restaurants. We stayed at the tiny Ediger-Eller Stellplatz which we liked, Moseltherme spa (swimming pool) at Traben-Trabach is cool. Further down the Stellplatz at Minheim was so good we returned. Also, at Zell, Globus had great wines and there was an interesting museum explaining the story of the black cat.

Not sure about the rest of them, but the Weinfest der Mittelmosel (the one in Bernkastel) is 1st-6th September this year.

Go steady with the Federweisser at weinfests, they have a kick, especially the next morning. 🤯
