So I’ve got a Ducato based panel van conversion and the back of the van especially the rear windows and camera get filthy at the slightest drop of inclemancy. I’ve seen mudflaps fitted and also a kind of giant one piece super flap that goes right across the rear. I have full E&P if that would effect anything.
Any advice?View media item 23493

I Have a full width type that works reasonably well, but the back will still
Get grubby especially if it’s the salt residue mixed with rain that you often get in winter driving,
It’s the joy of having a flat back vehicle

We're looking at getting a brush skirt as we had caked on muck and tar after our last journey. They're not expensive - I think Flamma do one.

As far as I understand aerodynamics, your van creates lower air pressure on the rear panel when moving through the air. This lower pressure pulls all the water/ grime towards the panel. I can’t see mudflats making any difference to your issue but may benefit those driving behind you.
Our rear panel is always the worst.

Yes there used to be wind deflectors on hatch back roofs to try and keep rear window clear. Some trailers have them on the roof at the rear to try and keep the back of the trailer cleaner.

Interested as we have same problem!

@Lost Sun do you mind me asking which windblockers you have and how you find them? I’m thinking we may get a set for our Campscout. Love the colour of your van by the way!

Look line Lillypad windblockers to me ... as for the colour, gorgeous isn't it ... if we didn't wild camp that's the colour we'd have but as it would stick out like a sore thumb we couldn't do discreet 'parking'.

Correct. In essence a vacum is created behind the vehicle as it moves forward which sucks in anything behind. Flaps/skirts may reduce it a bit but you're still going to be cleanibg it :)

True, but nearly all MHs have flat rear panels.

That's interesting ... we put our rear view/reversing camera at the bottom under the bumper (shown below on our previous camper but in exactly the same place on our current one) and it doesn't get dirty at all despite it being so much closer to the ground ... the rear panel/windows still get filthy though!

As others say flaps help a bit
Also worth fitting front one's as they stop some of the grot getting into the step mechanism

Probably due to the air coming through underneath the van?

I think that despite it being low down the camera sits in a little plastic 'tub' cover which I made so probably diverts the muck - better photo of it below.

We had a set of cheap mudflaps we bought off Ebay for a Smart For Two car which weren't used so hubby fitted rear ones them behind the front wheels of our camper and they work a treat at a faction of the cost of 'proper' Fiat ones.
