A few years
Been going through the instructions for fitting the MPPT charge controller and it says within 1m of the battery, is this right as was going to put it in one of the lockers above the side window or would it need some ventilation. my leisure battery is near side rear of the MH so if not could put it in the locker/garage also near side rear.
Thanks for all the info on here made me confident to DIY, what could possibly go wrong lol

As close as possible to the batteries to minimise power loss in the cables.
If the controller is further away, use thicker cables to the battery.

As said by thehutchies.. to calculate what size you require, use this handy online cable sizer

DC Cable sizing tool

Just an example..

* cable length 4 mts
* current 10amps
* acceptable loss 2%

cable size = 10mm2

A few years
it would be approx 3m away and I've got 4mm cable, think I'll go for the locker/garage option which is just above the battery then.
