When driving abroad in my motorhome I have trouble seeing the tiny red kph on my speedo fiat based cab do other funsters have the same problem or is there some sort of sticker you can buy to put over the top of the mph? Or maybe I should buy some 2 inch thick glasses

I just set my GPS to show the speed in Kph, much more accurate than the actual speedo. It also shows the max speed for most roads but that is not always correct.

We have MPH overlay on the KPH speedo but I just look at the say nav and that gives me the speed limit as well.

OK just realised the OP wants to read the speedo in KPH, buy a LHD would be one suggestion or as suggested above set your sat nav to KPH.

Sounds like fitting a dial would be a large job just thought it might be possible to stick one over the glass and remove on return

5 to 10 minutes to swap once you've done it for the first time.

1kph = 5/8ths of a mile

so!

30 mph=50kph

50mph= 80kph

4.55 litres = 1 gallon

Ergo 22litres = 5gallons

Seemples innet?

Mine is for sale. It is from a 2008 3 litre Ducato. I changed mine to the dual dial as I posted.

We keep a simple cardboard hand-written crib sheet handy in the cab that I knocked up during one trip:

30kph = 18.75mph
40kph = 25mph
50kph = 31.25mph
60kph = 37.5mph
70kph = 43.75mph
80kph = 50mph
90kph = 56.25mph
100kph = 62.5mph

Just glance at it occasionally, if a new speed limit pops up in order to be absolutely certain we're not going too fast. Use the sat-nav too for an accurate speed check, but hadn't thought about changing it from mph to kph - good idea. :)

Changing the GPS to metric units, as suggested earlier, is the simplest answer. It's not just speed but also distance it will then display in the local units.

Just take the first 'number'from the KPH speed and multiply by 5 and put a 0 on the end then round up ....

Sounds tricky........... but really quite easy

E.G. 50kph = 5 x 6 = 30mph 80kph = 8 x 6 =50 mph 100 kph = 10 x 6 = 60 mph

It does work I promise you:eek:

Get some coloured tape and stick it next to the speed limits IE 30mph and 70mph or what ever it is in the country you visit

I disagree
There is too much to think about without mental arithmetic.
Sat nav is good and accurate. My dual display suits me fine personally but there is nothing better than a clear unambiguous dial.

True, it does require a good grasp of the 6 x table:)

Another way is to add on half of the mph figure then the 1st number of the original number Its not exact but near enough
Ex:
50mph = 50+25 +5 = 80.
70mph = 70 +35 +7=112
