Never look at the speedo dial, head up display in the car and TomTom in the MH. And certainly don't do 6 x or any x tables as I go.

My wife wrote a little list of the major speed limits that you see in France.
Kmh to Mph. I put this where I can see it whilst driving.....very easy!!!

Multiply Kms by 6 and remove a zero from the answer and you'll be close enough...

eg. 100 kph x 6 = 600 minus a zero = 60mph

A very easy and quick mental calculation...

Another way is to add on half of the mph figure then the 1st number of the original number Its not exact but near enough
Ex:
50mph = 50+25 +5 = 80.
70mph = 70 +35 +7=112

Just reading this, the reverse works, (as an approximation) simply half the kph and add the first digit
70 kph halved = 35 and add the 7 = 42mph
