I am sure many will have done this before and many are in the same position as I am now.

We have a booking for mid June this year returning mid July.
What is the easiest, and cheapest, way to move the booking forward one year?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes - phone Eurotunnel (have your booking reference ready) - 01303 282061 or 0844 335 3535. I have always found the customer service staff very helpful and they can rebook you for up to a year after the date when you made the booking. At this stage you probably only want to 'park' the booking at the furthest date possible - then, when this is all over, bring it forward to a date when you actually want to travel!

You can only move it forward one year from time of booking, not time of travel

I would hope in this present climate of uncertainty, that restriction should be waived, certainly in the short term.
There must be hundreds if not thousands of Chunnel users that book say Summer 2020 trips way back last year and to restrict them to say booking an amendment that has to be used in the Autumn of this year is neither fair or useful.

No, I spoke to them this week and stated that argument. No joy. All they said was "look at our website to see if the situation changes".

You say you spoke.
Put it in writing.
That will be seen by someone who has the authority and clout to take it higher.

Not that bothered. Compared to some problems people have with CV the loss of a few Tesco vouchers is no big deal.

I'll give them a phone as, unlike loadsamoney above, it's till £214 of my money I'm trying to hold on to (even if some of it was in Tesco money).
I will report back, thanks.

Just called. Only 25 mins wait.
They said I could move my crossing as many times as I wanted but never past the 12 months of the original booking. That was 30th January.

Pull up the gangplank. I'm alright Jack.

We are, by the nature of our hobby/pastime in a position where we could say ,"
the loss of a few Tesco vouchers is no big deal"
That does not apply to all.
A wider thought process may be of an advantage.

Hang on, before you go insulting me. I was putting it into perspective. Many people are losing their livelihoods and even their lives in the current crisis, that to me is something to really care about !

I stated that I had spoken to Eurotunnel about moving the travel dates and indeed the answer I was given was also confirmed in post#12.

I AM NOT going to worry about vouchers which are a by-product of our normal spending in Tesco.

And as you stated "A wider thought process may be of an advantage", I refer you to your own posting and suggest you consider the real pain being suffered by many people in this Country compared to a few Tesco vouchers !!

"Hang on, before you go insulting me. "

I have not, in any way, shape or form insulted you. If you feel I have then you are wrong.

I have merely pointed out to you that there are some people to whom the loss of the ability to go on holiday is a big deal financially in their circumstances. The intransigence of Eurotunnel in this matter is not to be applauded.
I appreciate that there are people in a far worse situation as a result of the current crisis but I am not bringing them into THIS discussion.

I perceive these as insults which is against Rule1. The first line indicates an uncaring attitude to other people. The second line indicates narrow minded.

However, in the big scheme of things, again I'm not bothered.

I have personal experience of this , me and Mrs DC were due to travel to France last September and due to the good reports we had read we booked using our Tesco vouchers, seemed a no brainier just shop as usual pay on Tesco card transfer across from current account and get rewarded. A week before due to go I was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma ( its a form of cancer) and we were told in no uncertain terms we could not travel. I had to have immediate treatment ( The NHS have been and continue to be brilliant) and we (Mrs DC ) contacted Eurotunnel and were were dealt with very professionally and were told that the crossing would be put on hold for six months and that anytime within that period we could re book, we could not have any form of refund as we had used vouchers. We re booked for June this year after trying for September only to be told that we could only re book within the 12 months of the original booking. Fair enough we would have lost the crossing anyway as I cannot get travel insurance ( I can but £685 for 4 days is a bit steep) Given the current C virus we are in all probability going to lose the crossing but lets put it in perspective. I used vouchers that I accrued by using a Tesco credit card, I transferred payment from my bank current account at NO cost other than 30 seconds of my time on a website and as a bonus I got vouchers which I could triple in nominal value by booking a crossing so saving me £200. If I did not use the clubcard voucher or had never signed up I would still be liable for a crossing, its just a bonus. If we lose it due to the rules then so be it, if anyone could predict the future then wouldn't life be boring. I appreciate that to some people the loss of their clubcard crossing is a big deal but there are other credit cards and reward schemes out there! We were yold that we could get back the cash we paid out for the dog though!

... not if you have booked using Tesco tokens.
I’m pretty sure we’ve managed to amend a Tesco booking online in previous years - last year we changed return while we were away.

But certainly when I amended our booking a couple of days ago, it was by phone only. Only about 10 minutes waiting, and straightforward when I got through.

Just changed our booking from May to November, Tesco vouchers were used, did it by email on Wednesday, just had a reply just now, they changed the time on the return journey to keep the cost the same, as total cost was the same but they treated the journeys as two separate ones as far as cost, so both must cost the same or less than the originals if there is any additional cost you must phone so they can accept payment.
Just hope we don’t have to move them on again.

We were meant to travel for Easter on a ticket bought with Tesco vouchers. Alan called them and they have issued us a voucher which we can claim anytime before 18.03.21 and can be used for travel anytime after that date, so hopefully for Easter next year all being well.

We have another trip booked in May and will contact them regarding this nearer the time, assuming we won't be travelling in May.

Just to let everyone know and to tidy up the thread.

Well........
Yesterday I called Tesco clubcard on 0330 123 1688 and had a long chat (with nice man called Lachlan) explaining things to them.
He said he would discuss this with his superiors. If there was a problem he would get back in contact by email.
However, he said that if it was OK he wouldn't.

Well, I have just checked my clubcard app and I have been given all my points back.
I just thought others might like to know (even loadsamoney).

Every Little Helps:giggle:

And yes, result we got back the dog fare , she is a German Wirehaired Pointer on the avatar, I call her my shadow as she follows me round all day, Mrs DC thinks its a West Highland Terrier and she works for a vet! The team in Tesco clubcard are obviously geared up to the problem as it was agreed straight away, Euro tunnel were trying to retain custom by offering a voucher for upto a year from cancellation date or if need be a refund but their website is quoting 19th April (as to press) for their decision date!
