Thank you to @Snowbird for the advice. We have just enjoyed my first attempt at cooking mussels in a white wine and creme fraiche sauce accompanied by hot crusty bread and a plate of chips, all washed down with a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. I suppose I will have to drink the rest of the bottle of white wine too as it will only be wasted otherwise . Thank you Mrs Snowbird for remembering the finer details of the recipe that Mr Snowbird forgot.
