Some of you know me from other forums etc. A few months ago I was made redundant and after 3 months I found another job, less pay, more hours, including weekends and bank holidays etc. Not ideal for a motorhome owner with kids who want to be away most weekends.

I have been thinking of setting up my own motorhome valeting/detailing buisiness, then I could work around weekends away, or even work them while at shows and rallies.

I have been researching companies who do valeting. I found out that 90% dont want to do a MH, they say its too much hard work. Then there are others who will do the work but they want to pressure wash it and do a quick once over with a cloth. I only found one person who I would let near my MH as he knew not to use a pressure washer and he knew how time consuming a propper job would be.

I have also asked the prices that they charge and found out that the pressure washer cowboys charges start at £45 to £80 to do a so called exterior valet. The companies that say they offer a propper service start at £80 and go upto £300 for a large RV.

So I am now looking to build up a buisiness specialising in motorhome valeting and detailing. I have detailed my Cougar for many years,it attends many shows and I have had people ask me to do their cars for them at shows. As a motorhome owner I know what should and should not be done to a MH and only use quality non corrosive chemicals on any vehicle that I do.

I am posting on a couple of sites to see if there is sufficient interest in my services, I am based in Leeds, West Yorkshire but will travel a reasonable distance if I can book a couple of jobs close to each other.

So What do you think? Would you like your motorhome valeted to a high standard? Do you hate getting up on a ladder to clean the roof etc?

I await your feedback

Ran a small mobile valeting buisnes for several years, your right in most people do not know the amount of work that goes into Valeting a family car let alone a M/H. A car full valet would take me 3-4 hrs, including wash, polish, hoover, shampoo upholstery and wash headlining .
Did several motorhomes, caravans and a narrow boat. Good luck in your venture its a lot of work for little money. The inital cash outlay on equipment can be costly, (buy cheap and replace several times ) though after that the outlay on materials is pennies as the job is mailnly labour intensive. 3 years ago I was getting 80 quid for a complete valet on a medium sized motorhome and 50 quid for a caravan.:thumb:

I have all the equipment already as I have detailed cars as an amateur, and my own car for shows. I have a couple of bookings already from another site and have managed to attract a local Ferrari owner:Smile: who has seen m do my own car.

You are right about how hard the work is, but I don't need to rush things as I don't have massive expenses. I also want to build up a good name by doing a top quality job.

I have had a good response to posts on a few different forums, and have already started Motorhome and RV valeting. I have just done A 36ft Damon Intruder and it came up great for a 10year old vehicle. The owner was very happy.

So please send me a PM if you would like an estimate.

My business neighbour is a valeter and he has now done a couple of motorhomes, including ours. I don't have a problem with pressure washers if they're used sensibly, the problems arise when people use them on a small jet at close quarters, a wide spread fan at sensible range will do no harm unless there are problems with the body work anyway. Bob (my neighbour) has just done a 1990 Elddis and done a cracking job of it, inside and out.
