Just looking ahead to when we finally get the keys of our new Ducato based camper van , can anyone recommend any of the above to make the van less likely to disappear from the driveway or when we are away ?
I would prefer a non subscription tracking device.

We have Phantom tracking and paid for lifetime subscription, so it's all done now and forget about it ;) we can take our steering wheel off and take it home if we fancy so you could look at removable possibly, I know you get them for IVECO but not sure about Fiat.

Disklok. The only steering wheel lock that is of any use. Especially if it's modified as:

If its going to be stood a while you could take a wheel off or unplug the injector rail

We have a disclock and two steel cables that we lock together so the cab doors can’t be opened and also secure the front seats the wrong way round. Along with an Outsmart The Thief alarm and tracker we‘re happy.

Alot will be dictated by who you insure with in my very recent limited experience. Pretty much anything over 80k replacement value will require a Tracker of a category specified by them. I have the Growler Alarm, Meta Trac Plus Tracker and Non Starter. Might look at a Steering wheel lock.

Thanks for all the suggestions . I have been looking at the Winnes magnetic tracker on amazon it does have mixed reviews . Has anyone had any experience ?
I like the idea of hiding the device and also not advertising the fact that a tracker is fitted.

Tracker will only let you know where the scrotes have taken your van to. You need a decent Alarm system that will deter them from removing it in the first place.
Look at https://www.vanbitz.com/ for the best Motorhome specific alarm and tracker system

Can't be done on a Fiat only can be done on vehicles without an airbag.

And Metatrac tracker, if fitted along with the Vanbitz alarm ,no subs required.

I can understand the Metatrack subscription is included for the first 1 or 3 years as per their price page but are you suggesting it’s free for life? If so who pays for the tracking services ?

All I know is when had my fitting I was told no subs to pay whilst I own the van, maybe I paid it all up front, I am not sure. Could be a special deal from Vanbitz.

If only. You will get a reminder well before due date with options to pay to continue the service.

Potato placed tactically will prevent it been started.

a good pedal lock is a good deterrent.

prickstop, as all ducato vans central locking is easy enough to overcome.

some other wee traps help too

Could be a special deal or is it self monitoring as opposed to a managed service ?

I know they guarantee their Growler alarm for life to the original purchaser but the Meta Tracker is subscription.

looking at their web page that’s what I would expect a period of x or y then a subscription payment.

The Oxford patriot disc lock is good to lock the drivers seat in the rear facing position 👍 I'll look for the thread on it..

I looked at this, purchased a bike disc lock, but could not get it to fit, in the end a simple padlock works for me, that’s in a 2019 Ducato.

Some people recommend two trackers, one that sends out a continuous signal and one that only transmits 4/8 times per day, so it's less likely to be found ...

Takes less than a couple of minutes to remove any Fiat pedal lock in complete silence. Fiat pedals are made of plastic and can be cut off with a junior hacksaw yet still leave the vehicle driveable.
Yes true, but thieves prefer to cause minimal damage so they can quickly sell on….

and every security measure is overcomable, however the more deterents the less attractive.

A good tracker will alert you/the tracker company if the van is moved when it shouldn't, then they will liaise with the police to cut the engine when safe to do so.

I used to use a padlock, ok if a grinder or bolt crops can't sort it. The oxford patriot is virtually impossible to get a grinder on. (somebody tried on the thread I think 🤔)

We have the Winnes tracker, it lasts about 6 weeks and lets you know it’s running out of charge by sending you a text message. Also lets you know it’s been moved or even had the cab door slammed a little harder than usual. Sends you a series of texts with pinpoint accurate co-ordinates as to where it’s located. It has a spectacularly strong magnet on its base and will cling on anywhere where there is some flat steel. For the money I think it’s excellent. I told my insurance company that I had it but they didn’t count it as eligible for discount as it’s not part of a subscription scheme…. I guess you pays your money…..

Cheers!

A grinder will cut through almost any lock, none are perfect, but a varied mix and visibility make a thief think twice. In reality I just want him to decide mine is too difficult and go and nick someone else’s…..sorry

Correct 👍🏻 Metatrac shows you its movements on an app and you can isolate engine when parking or if it’s on illegal travels.
