To many to mention
We have Cruise out of Barcelona later this year, instead of flying out we are thinking of going in the van (PVC 6.4meters) if we can find safe storage with easy access into Barcelona for 7 nights. After the Cruise we would then be able to carry on touring Spain etc. Has anyone used a storage place near Barcelona.
We do have the option to leave it at a friends a couple of hours from Barcelona but the commute to Barcelona doesn’t work eg no public transport handy.

«Major delurk alert»

After many years as a merely a browser of the forum I've decided to delurk.

I too am on a cruise from Barcelona soon, and have decided to drive rather than fly as we're already in Europe, and have the same problem, where to park for a week.

I've got the added problem of a Euro2 base vehicle so would need to use the 10 day passes if parking in the environmental zone.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Getting there!
Might be worth asking these guys if they do short term: - https://www.caravaningparkvalles.com/contacto

I've not had any contact with them but I have them bookmarked to ask as will need occasional storage near BCN.

Wrong side of town for the airport but easy enough on public transport to Plaza Cat in town and then a short taxi ride or Metro down to the port area.

I've often parked parked my car at Terminal 2, Barcelona ( the old bit of the airport ) for several weeks at a time. They have covered spaces which are only suitable for cars, and a huge uncovered area. I'm not sure if they take vans but pretty sure I've seen minibuses in there before now. Very handy for the Metro and train back to town.

Terminal 2 Parking

The entrance is here

Terminal 2 Parking Entrance

Operated by Aena - they often have special deals available.

Send them an email and ask if your van would be Ok dimensions wise.

Terminal 1 (the new terminal) is all multi-storey undercover parking so not suitable.

We are a bit nervous about leaving the van at Airport Parking once had a 4x4 stolen from Reus Airport. It was a few years ago and I know security is better now but would prefer secure parking out of Barcelona but with easy commuting.

You won't do much better than the one I linked.
Secure compound
Security cameras
Security lighting
Patrolled
Swipe card/key access.
All 24/7

Around €80 a week I think.
Cheaper than any campsite storage and more secure.

Maybe not.......50 mins by car, 1 hour by train.

The one we used was a ten minute taxi to Barcelona center

Thanks for the replies Funsters, lots of food for thought. I've also found a camperstop at a dealer in Mataro, that could also be an option. It's near a Lidl too if I remember right, very handy for a quick restock when leaving.

Thank you all for your reply’s. I have emailed Aena & waiting for their response. I will also look at Caravanas papiol. We could fly out but flight coming in at over £600, so Just thought we could come over in the van holidaying on the way through France then continue further down the Costas after the cruise.

How do your insurers view you leaving (abandoning?) your vehicle abroad?

I understood that you’re only covered if it’s stored at a nominated UK address, or when it’s in use.

I've just asked Aena re vehicle dimensions - as long as you are under 4.3 m high you will get under the canopy to access the parking area. Their covered bays are only for cars as are only 2.10m high.

I think your UK insurance does not cover you if you leave it unattended over night eg airport parking, not sure about secure parking for motor homes as they usually insist you have your own insurance but it a risk we will have to decide for ourselves.
