Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of advise on these systems I guess you buy a length of skirt and attach it to the side of the van with the limpet system, which I assume are magnets?

Any advise on where to buy kits etc would be good

Thanks,

Buzz

There is a saying about ‘assume’

I have never seen a magnet version but it might make sense, if it wasn’t for a lot of MH’s being made from aluminium

We use suction hooks, tried three different styles still looking for a really good one (y)

Combination of road grime and non flat surfaces it is not an ideal suction base

Check to make sure there isnt a runner on your motorhome to slide it through.

Limpets work by suction, now if you had a tin van like mine you can use magnets anytime.

Hi

Yes had a look and it hasn't any runner or hooks... I feel a project coming on...I had a look at channel runner and found a company that supplies the correct 'T' profile for the skirt I'm looking at buying

Many thanks to everyone who took time out to reply:clap2: (y):)

I saw something somewhere that was basically an inflatable sausage that went between the axles under the vehicle, was for VW T5 iirc but may we’ll work depending on wheelbase.

I used an awning channel and glued it to the inside of the skirt where it can’t be seen all right it’s abit fiddly to fit the skirt but it works.(y)(y)

i fitted an awning channel into the trim line where the herzim strip goes on the aluminium side skirt because on my van any other position for the draft skirt would still leave the wheel arch exposed and require a separate piece for that which is a bit of a bodge, i had to make a join in the draft skirt that goes either side (and behind) the electric step....a bit trial and error but perfect now
i have a residence room on the van when i go racing so i like it draught free

We’ve tried limpets, okish but not the meat on dusty uneven edges. We’ve manage to overwind a couple where the rubber screws beit has drifted from the suction. Rendering them useless. I ended up, and it seems to work, is a couple of suction Xmas wreath hangers. 5 or 6 and a couple of smaller to hold the awning close to the van. These are clear and are capable of taking the weight.

In the past on both motor home and cars ( still do some camping use skirt on a car to help protect tent in bad weather)I have glued on an awning channel with Stixal from Toolstation its cheap and its as good as any other sealant adhesive and works even when wet and then later its easy to cut through and remove with acetone
