My first post on this forum and I need to get advice and opinion.
I have hired motorhomes but am in the process of buying my first. It's 10 years old. The vehicle is fitted with a Phantom tracker, however as it is an older model, it can't be re activated.
Here's the dilemma :
Do I get a new tracking device fitted then put up with the annual fee OR spend the money to prevent the motorhome being stolen in the first place?
I had in mind Disklok and wheel clamps

Speak to the insurance company about the tracker, after all it's for their benefit 🤔 mostly.

Our van came with a tracker but the insurance was no cheaper with it so I let it lapse after the initial free year.

Look for the 'swivel seat security' thread 👍

Disclock is good visual deterrand but not sure about through night, in case you need a quick getaway if wildcamping. Some idiots about.

Let us know what you decide. It helps others. :)

another vote for the excellent clutch claw, coupled with the locked swivelled seat.

My first security for our van was the Bulldog DC 400 wheel clamp, pretty light weight and very easy to fit.
Like said before it will possibly slow them down but won't stop them if they really want the van.

Just a wee security hack works for Decato.
Seats facing forward pass seat belt down through door pull and click it in, if it needs adjustment twist it a few times.
Seats facing inward as above but pass belts behind seats and link together.
I use quick release belt the same as you get on aircraft. Available from Amazon.😃

I probably wouldn't use it whilst in the MH, but any time we leave it unattended. Good point about quick getaway.

Thank you. I intend to use a ratchet strap or similar through the handles of the cab doors and will look at locking the swivel seat

Have a look at the Vanbitz web site and then decide the way forward.
Thank you. Looked at Vanbitz, it gets a lot of recommendations on here and if I were nearer I would certainly use them. I'd prefer something nearer in North Yorkshire

In addition to the Vanbitz Growler + Non Starter + tracker I also use a Stoplock Pro, a wheelclamp ( even if I’m away on a site as well as where I park it ) and a ATE Pedal Lock. More the merrier as far as I’m concerned. (y)

If I had to have all these security devices to feel my van was safe I'd sell it and get another pass time.
Why? It’s my van and I want to keep it. Why make it easy for the thieving scum take it because I couldn’t be bothered to secure it as best as I can? You always hear from the ones who have had their vans nicked and always makes me wonder if they did all they could too. So it costs a lot to put these security devices on but it’s well worth the investment in my opinion. I go to some remote places on my own and quite often go out on my Ebike or motorbike for hours on end. I like to know it’s still going to be there when I return. (y)

Eggs is taking one for the team and I thank them 😍
It's their motorhome the thieves move onto when they see our security devices and can't be arsed with them 🤣😜

Sound like handy tips. (y)

Have you got a link or name to search on Amazon for the quick release belt?

Is this what you mean?

One deterrent I use when leaving the van is to revolve the front seats so they face into the habitation area, and then put a heavy motorcycle chain and padlock on the bars under the seat - not going anywhere, unless heavy duty bolt cropper or angle grinder used. Therefore, not totally foolproof, but easy and cheap to organise, especially when used with a few other ideas. Think I paid about £27 for the chain and lock. on ebay. (y)

That’s the very one. this belt can also be used with seat facing inward pass through door pull and round the arm rest it also stops your seat swivelling about to much.

We are from Manchester and are booked in with vanbitz just added it to a site booking as didn't really want to make a special journey but I would of if I had to , suppose if you want the best then you have to sacrifice something
