A Massive shout out to Paul from Motorhome Locks. He did a fantastic job of fitting two locks onto our Hymer yesterday, one on the habitation door and the other on the passenger door. After being broken into in a previous motorhome in the south of France a few years ago, these are worth every penny. So if you want any motorhome locks supplied and or fitted, then Paul is your man.

Do you mind telling us what he charges for a door lock, I could do with one on my carthago drivers door, also where is he based?

If he covers North Yorkshire (which I doubt) I’d be very interested.

Edit: from his website he only does Hymer and German vans. So no good to me. But good luck to him and his business.

Give him a ring as yours may be different to ours. He is a really lovely bloke, and a retired locksmith so definitely knows his stuff.

If you need a dead lock it’s the Abus 7025 which is keyed both sides costing anything from £37 to £90 Online they are quite easy to fit if you are that way inclined😊

Paul also does a lock made by BASI, a german company, which is keyed externally but has a knob internally for a quick exit in case of fire, which he fitted to my habitation door.

That’s the one I have fitted to hab door (previous owner) I would like the same on cab door🤔👍
I would say that if the inside of the door can be seen from the outside it may be a thief would simply break a window to reach in and open the door, in my case i always leave the van with the blinds closed so the interior cannot be seen from outside. My drivers door has an ABUS dead lock that cannot be opened from inside.
