Hi - first post so my apologies for the usual 'annoying newbie first post' question!

Hopefully you can point me in the right direction. I have been camping in a small campervan for the last 5 years so not new to the hobby but have now decided that we would like a motorhome in order to have a bit more comfort and hopefully travel around Europe for longer periods - but probably no more than 8 - 10 weeks at a time.

I appreciate that the budget of £25k may be on the low side but can you give me a few suggestions so I know where I can start my search? There are just the 2 of us. I have done a little research and it seems that I might be better off looking older "German or Euro' manufactures rather than a shiny newer UK made one - any thoughts?

I will keep the vehicle on my drive and I think I will need to keep the length at no more than 7 metres. I quiet fancy a MH with a fixed bed and a small dinette area but am going around in circles looking at what seems to be a myriad of choices!!

Any advice is most welcome - many thanks.

Regardless of budget a motorhome for me is all about layout, as a campervan owner I am sure you realise this so concentrate first on suitable layouts. That should give you a short list of vans, then you can look at prices. For info we have a 2008 Bessacarr E560, 7.0m long with fixed bed and think it's brilliant for long or short trips.

I would say, even with todays sellers market. £25,000 is a good budget.

Plenty of German Motorhomes available, A B or C Class.

Don’t discount the British brands totally, we have a 2012 Bessacarr e562 (newer version of the e560 already mentioned) and would happily do a long tour in it around Europe if we had the time and confidence!

The slightly older e560 (2008-2010) could be one worth considering in your budget.

Older Bessacars would be my exception to the German vans

Older Autosleepers are worth looking at.

Many thanks for your replies.
There seems to be so much choice! I quite like the look of that Hymer B584 that is linked in a previous post and is within my budget. I am very happy to have an older MH and that might well be the best way into the hobby as a newbie.

With regard to engines and chassis, and in particular the older ones, is there any manufacturer I should avoid in relation to the reliability and cost of repairs and running?

I would have thought you are better buying on layout and condition rather than make.
