Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
The 15 year old van i bought last jan will be worth more this jan lol. Madness.
Reminds me of the woman complaining at a market stall that their bananas were priced a lot dearer than at the stall opposite.
"So why didn't you buy them there?" replied the guy on the stall.
"They didn't have any" said the woman.

Moved over to the Dark Side after 16 yrs tugging.
A Bailey Autograph was 55k in Oct 2019. Today they are 80k. Up 25k in three seasons. Is this trend short lived? It may slow down with the recession perhaps, but not reduce methinks.

Strange.... was there not a thread in the last few days saying moho prices starting to fall.!!

I was thinking the same thing. can't find it now though, but I seem to remember it was about 2nd hand prices?? The argument was that new prices would continue to rise due to cost of parts, materials, labour. However, both cannot be true. If people cannot afford the prices of new ones they will have to drop the prices, or give up. If prices do rise this has to affect 2nd hand prices.

Prices will inevitably rise but people will keep buying.

By contrast the Corsa e is nigh 30k, merc and Audi e tron both 80k. I see more Mercs and Audis than Corsa s. All pcp of course but still 700£ per month?
Obviously they are a must have item in our society.

I bet you there will be a few going back over the next month's "all skirt and no knickers" spring's to mind.

Little BIK tax while previously some people were paying £6k pa. That's before you charge the car for nothing at work.

A week before Caravan Salon the Carthago we have just ordered went up 10k but they upped the spec to include the 180 hp engine and 9speed auto bos plus some other bits so in real terms it only went up 2k. Looks much better value than Bailey the larger Autograph went from 64 k to 89k I can't see anyone paying that for a Bailey not even got an auto box and ony 165 engine but some mugs will.

Second hand sales will slow down this time of year anyway.

Caravanning for 20 years MH from 2022
We ordered in Feb 2022 at NEC and the price of the Elddis Chatsworth 185 has since increased by £14k in 6 months!! Now £71500!! We seem to be lucky in as much that the van has been delivered to our dealers within the promised timeline this week. So perhaps the supply chain issues are easing? The next delay is apparently the average 3 weeks it takes DVLA to register the vehicle!

Camping since 1954, MoHo 2022
The Adria online configurator has just recently come back to life after several months, so I ran a comparison of the Compact model we ordered back in October last year (deliver imminent apparently! 🤞🤞🤞) to what it would cost if ordered now.

First thing to note, although not unexpected, was that the 160hp engine has disappeared and it’s place taken by the 180hp unit, so a direct comparison with earlier quotations/offers isn’t possible. Even so, the price difference for the otherwise identical specification is over £16k (more than 20%), and that is in the less than 9 months since my last price comparison!

I'm hoping to downsize soon from my Adria Matrix m670sl to a smaller camper van type unit as I'm just myself now , ' but second hand prices are way through the roof as are new van prices looks like I'll be holding onto it now for a wee while at least .

We paid £63K for our first Bailey 79-4T must be nearly 2 years ago..........that Bailey most know on here blew up so was rejected. Ordered a another, when it arrived about 9 months later the selling price was £75/6K (we of course got the new one at the old price of £63K)
Looking on Autotrader recently i see a couple of Baileys 79s for £80k.
I would NOT pay £80k now for one we have.

Why do folk think prices of van's are rising...and continuing to rise...its not because manufacturers can make more and more profit...its because the price to build the things and the components to make the parts that all go together, and the fuel and energy required to build them has risen just like everything else...that also gets passed on to the customer....just like everything else. ... and interesting to note at the Lincoln Warners show a couple of weekends ago the amount of used vans for sale with "Sold" on them.... there were loads.
