All was well with this App while I was on the trial period. When it decided that I'd had long enough the battery drain increased dramatically, while not using the device. I have now paid the subscription and it is still draining the battery (I have temporarily stopped it and the battery drain has stopped). Any ideas as to what I can do?

It's usually that the phone is trying to log in but can't find it. Phones used to go flat when they couldn't find a signal but they just kept on trying

I have found these apps aren't worth having far better keeping to the free web versions, searchforsites and park4night are just the same.
Save your money.

I think some apps use the gps chip constantly to keep your location up to date (and probably share the information too). Can add to the battery drain. I believe other apps are better written and only use significant power when in active use but not open in the background.

Thanks for the replies, I have just been going through the settings and have switched off location tracking and all the others. I have also been trying to download the off line info for France but it keeps crashing half way through (n) it suggests that I remove it and reinstall it - nothing's ever as easy as it should be with these things. :(

After doing all the above, it still drained my battery overnight. Again I have stopped it and no problems with the battery (n)

When you say stopped it do you mean removed the app from the device or turned it off for now?

Use CamperContact. :) It isn't perfect but it doesn't drain the battery. I've used it quite frequently on this trip but it doesn't even appear in the list of apps under power usage.

BTW, I'm assuming you are using Android?

Just turned it of for now. On Android you have the option of Force Stop. It restarts when you click on it.

just get rid of these apps and use the online versions . Uses no battery or data till you need it we have been all down France and never been without a connection and you don't need any maps downloaded

The last time I looked it was over 80% of the power usage!

Delete it completely and use a better one
Park4night is the only one you need
Never had much luck with Park4night nearly every time I used it the site i pick turns out to be only suitable for a very small camper totally unsuitable for a 7.5m long 3m high van. I find Camper Contact far more reliable.
