Our usual place in Surrey for doing MOT and servicing has closed so I found this place:
R & M Commercials Ltd.
Bell Rd, Basingstoke RG24 8FB, UK
01256 840404
Excellent people with first class facilities.
So, I decided to go there yesterday in the pouring rain for an MOT test. Missed the turning for the industrial estate and carried on towards the town centre comfortable in the knowledge I'd find it again with the help of Jane, my Tomtom lady.
She directed me down a one-way slip road and there I was confronted by a bridge that sported a notice telling me it was 2.2 metres high! No previous sign warning me beforehand either!
Significant elevation of blood pressure ensued as I reversed back to an off road position, not easy due to bollards, high curbs and multiple cars sounding horns and flashing lights as they too had the joy of reversing back behind me.
I decided the best thing was to call 101 and Hampshire Constabulary kindly sent 2 very nice female officers to escort me the wrong way back up the 1 way slip road and onto the main carriageway.
When I apologised profusely she said not to worry they do it once a week, sometimes twice, last time it was an artic!
Onwards to R&M 45 minutes late. No worries they said, sat me down and made me a coffee while the MOT test was carried out.
