Depends if you want to cross to the Continent or stay in the UK. We use Safeguard as they give good overseas cover. Plus when you phone the call centre is in UK not India! Found them very good so far:thumb:

Hi

A MUST call is 'Insurance Factory' I did and got 2 quotes, one being a small broker, and the other being offered by AXA. I got quotes from about 11 places and the AXA one at £191 (NO breakdown cover as I want to use ADAC) is defo the best in my mind.

0800 112 4887 choose the option for 'classic cars and motorhomes' then ask for Stuart James. You dont have to ask for him, but he was very friendly and bothered to make sure he gave a good service.

Hope it helps.

Just had a quote from SAGA, no limit on foreign travel plus cover for contents of the van & cover for trailer.

£40,000 value, 3 ltr engine, 10,000 annual mileage, 2 oldies (me 71 Mrs 68) driving, full NCB protected £155.

Normal excesses applicable.

NFU charged me £288 last renewal.

we got quotes from all the companies suggested by MHF members but found NFU to be one of the cheapest and it included UK breakdown cover. We paid extra to include European breakdown cover for the month we went abroad and it wasn't much extra.

Hi there

We recommend Stuart at the 'Insurance factory' too.
We are new to mh so had no NCB on a mh - they were able to match the car no claims + discount for being over 50 (just :winky:) and a discount for Sid having an HGV licence

no online quotes as everyone is quoted on their own circumstances, not just grouped together.
you do need to ring or visit to thrash out what you want but its worth the effort. :thumb:

saved me £65 on my pickup insurance this year.::bigsmile:

"Sure-Term Direct.. Was with another well known company that I had recommended many people to..

But when I changed from a 5th wheel to a rigid RV I never received my "Certificate"
So phoned them up and they charged £10 for re-issue of "Lost Certificate" But I said how can you charge me that for some thing that I had never received.. cancelled and took my business to Sure-Term, Cheaper and unlimited continental use where as the others were going to charge £30 a month over my first 90 days free..

If any one wants the name of the people that charged me for re-issue of duplicate certificate P.M. me,,, wont air my dirty washing in public ..

Another one for SAGA here

Just about to change my insurance... long story short I am moving the motorhome a little close to home .... Towergate Baker wanted an extra £116 on top of the current premium of over £400.. (including European breakdown)

SAGA Offered £310 on line then when I phoned to check I had not made a mistake she offered another £15 off :) Including my partner still lower end of the 40s....

So I guess Towergate Baker will be getting a call soon to cx their policy.

A Weird One!!!

I have just been getting quotes for my M/Home which is being using to commute to work on a weekly basis in an attempt to reduce my mileage down from 500 miles to 100 miles per week. While a number of insurers have declined AXA through the Caravan Club accepted @ £268.40 and the Insurance Factory (Stuart) came in @ £207.91 and guess what.... that was with AXA!!!!!!
The down side is the BBreakdown cover came in @ £90 where CC was £62.

Regards

Roger

As you know, we went with the Insurance Factory and AXA, but used ADAc for breakdown cover as that included Europe as well and costs under £90 for the year and if you break down in England ADAC will send out the AA or the RAC.

Just insured New M/H with new for old for 2 years mirrored no claim Bonus as I have 10 years no claim bonus on car, (hope that continues !!) Fully Comp. 365 days European cover , as 4.4tonnes they give you breakdown/ recovery cover like I could have had if vehicle was 3.5 tonne. £401.88 ,did knock them down to this as I gave them like for like quotations. Caravan club (Devitts Brokers) wanted £ 550 although they did say at next years renewal they would beat any quote by £50, I said my car is insured through You , answer That makes no difference eh!! , Caravan and Camping Club wanted £800 but the Lady on the end of the phone said they are looking at their offers when I told her ,"You must be joking"
