Grove and dean have been pretty competitive and include European breakdown in the policy

Always learning
Saga for me second year running, £260 with full European cover - always find it strange when i get a quote from a recommended insurer off Fun that they are always a lot more than Saga, yet others have had quotes and got it for less, must be a postcode thing.

We insure with Comfort, very reasonable at £234.00 for our Autotrail. Saga wanted a lot more even though we insure our cars with them but we are now changing to a Swift Kon-tiki and even with the addition of a satellite system it has only cost an additional £28.00 to cover the new mh until February next year.

A long time
Saga give competitive prices for the 1st year but bump them up at renewal.
Caravan Guard are expensive (or at least more than Comfort).
The caravan and Motorhome Club Insurance is just for millionaires!
I am going to get a quote from Grove & Dean and see what they have to offer.
Will keep you all posted.

No company is the definitive cheapest for everyone.

They all work with different risk profiles for different vehicles and areas and they will use their own private data as well as industry data when they update these profiles.

A company that 10 people say is the cheapest might be hideously expensive for 5 others.

Asking for recommendations is fine up to a point but if price is the only or the deciding factor for you then the only way you can be sure is to do the legwork and contact all the companies yourself.

Nick in post above is totally correct.

Also one should realise that most of the 'insurers' that people refer to are not Underwriters of the risk, but are Brokers with strict 'underwriting criteria' for their firm given to them on a 'binder' from the actual Underwriters who carry the risk and who pay the claims. The real Underwriters must of course be stated on any documentation.

Different Brokers will quote different premiums but for the same Underwriters.

Just had our renewal through 12% increase on last year, wonder if it is because John has reached 70. Will be shopping round as ever.

As was discussed on another thread recently, a lot depends on the mileage you do, the cost of replacing your windscreen and the cost of your motorhome.

The company which suits our situation best is NFU.

For what it’s worth the company that’s consistently cheapest for ours is Comfort but between them and their underwriters (Aviva) their service in the event that you need to make a claim is somewhere between incompetent and appalling.
