Motorhome Insurance in Portugal

We are new motorhome owners (well will be next Saturday when we collect ours from Caldas da Rainha)

We have bought a ten year old Bavaria T71LP and I am now trying to insure it. Our existing brokers can only do third party on this vehicle and I would like to know if anyone has a recommendation as we would really like full insurance. We are Portuguese residents on Portuguese licences and the vehicle is Portuguese plated.

Some people have the same problem in Spain, in our area it's no problem, I think you need to shop around, there are a few members living in Portugal that might be able to help.

Failing that you can use IBEX or ABBEYGATE who insure out of Gibraltar. I'd guess they'd cover portugese as they do spanish vans.

Many thanks, we have a winner I only got as far as AbbeyGate but they were able to do it with full insurance and three named drivers with a €750 excess for €719. We actually paid a little more as we had less than a years no claims bonus.
