I insure my van through CAMC. This year the renewal notice showed a £100 reduction over last year’s premium and I was delighted until I saw that the company they were using was Ageas. I am currently having a nightmare over building insurance with Ageas and will not use them to insure my van. I am sure many of you who use CAMC will get the same offer of a premium reduction but you might want to consider why Ageas is undercutting the other players.

Interesting, my underwriter for the van insurance has been Ageas for a few years now. Admittedly, I haven't had to make a claim as such, but I found them flexible, allowing me to store my UK-registered van in Spain for up to six months a year.

And in 2020, when the pandemic hit, the van got trapped in Spain (we couldn't fly out to collect it). We were coming up to the 6-month max cover, so I got in touch through the broker and Ageas came back 'not to worry, they would keep the van on risk'. It eventually came back to the UK after nine months and I expected a premium increase on renewal, but in fact it was the opposite - a premium reduction! :giggle:

I thought they'd been very fair and reasonable, and the premium is competitive, so I've stayed with them. Oh and still have the agreement to Spanish storage (which is almost unheard of amongst other insurers/underwriters in the UK).

But having said all of that, insurers are only as good as the service they provide when a claim is necessary.

I was insured with Ageas last year via C&CC. Last year was £400. My renewal was not with Ageas. I rang to clarify a few things i wasnt happy with and asked why they didnt offer me Ageas this year. Answer was they wanted £800. Couldnt believe it.
