Nice looking van in the big monthly sale at the auction house just down from me. Auction doesn't start until Wednesday and it already seems to be getting a lot of bids in.

Swift on a Fiat Ducato maxi. 07 registered but only 20k miles. Looks tidy enough and MOT history is good.

It looks nice and I would have thought it would attract a lot of bids. It’s always sad to see vehicles like this at auctions. It must have been someones pride and joy.

That's the thing, you just never know the history. Could be rotten or could be a cracker of a van for someone. I might pop down for a look if this rain stops.

I quite like a Vauxhall Mokka that is in the same sale.

Plus vat ,plus 2.5% buyers premium plus 2% on line bidding plus 2% if on credit card.
without vat they add 6,9% to the hammer price. I also thought it was illegal to add a fee for using a credit card?

It is.

This guidance is for England, Scotland and Wales
Businesses are not permitted to impose surcharges for paying by debit card, credit card or electronic payment services. The ban on surcharges does not apply to commercial debit or credit cards.

If you have time go and view it. I bought my first 669 in 2013 it was a 2008 Reg with 6k on it . The last two years of ownership it had only hundred of miles between MOTS. Owner had a gammy leg and could not drive it! No problems to speak of.
It has been driven to the MOT station and back. Check the history for any advisories.

I think buying with no chance to talk to the previous owners and no warranty from a dealer it would need a reasonable discount on normal prices to make it worthwhile.

Now my maths isn't great, so feel free to double check but I reckon if you got it for a hammer price of £35,000 you'd pay nearly an extra 2.6k on top. Does that sound about right?

Let’s have some fun then.

26k hammer

Are we going to put guesses in ?
I will start with £24.500 (Hammer price without add ons)

Auctions are so hard to predict. With two desperate bidders it could go for a lot.

I had a nosey at it this afternoon just out of curiosity, was there to look at something else anyway, looks clean and has sat dish and air con fitted, but obviously looking clean doesn’t mean anything

Up at 16k already with pre-registered bids. I went for a look earlier and it is real tidy. Inside is immaculate from what I could see. It did look like some of the seals around some lockers and skirts has been redone but apart from that it's a real nice looking van.

I wonder what it's been doing since 2007.

It sold for 27k conditionally.

I think that means it hasn't met the reserve but the owner still has the option to accept the bid.
