My wife Lucy and I came to Algarve Portugal in 2005 we spent
some time in a site Trindade Lagos but found that it was quite
expensive to stay long term in the winter Nov til April.we found
some places to stay (wild camp) along the coast.,It was fun for
a while til the knock on the door at 10pm GNR moving everyone
This prompted us to buy a lovely piece of land 5 miles from Lagos
Where we have spent every winter since 2008 .

since 2014, before that 20 years of boating & caravanning
If we were to look into buying a piece of land (just land not property) in either Portugal or Spain - could anyone point us in the right direction please? :)

do you not find that a bit boring ?

not for me personally , prefer a change of scenery and not be tied to one place all winter.

Depends how you do it, we spend from October to May at our now static 5'er on a site near Tavira.

We spend a few weeks meandering down, Germany last year, Italy and then ferry to Barcelona the year before, a few weeks meandering back to southern Brittany where we stop for a couple of months.

Whilst we are at Tavira we make a number of short trips in our PVC around Portugal and into Spain plus a trip back to the UK, sometimes a flight.

Different ways of doing things but we like this way, been doing it for 6 years now and 4 years of full time touring in the 5'er before that, having a base for the doesn't mean that you have to stay put all winter(y)

We are staying in our motorhome on the land, go off touring when we get itchy feet, we are not tied to it, but at the moment we are enjoying this area so tend to spend more time here. Do not get bored at all, always something to do, even its visiting a local bar for a coffee.

yes of course , understand that way of doing things.. but I read it as they spend all winter on that piece of land
