In 1983 I drove from England to Lomé
I've just Googled 'supermarket home deliveries' and was surprised at how many companies are now doing this.
I can see a scenario where I would rather have stuff delivered to a site instead of driving into a town to pick up supplies.
Do any of you folks use such services now and again?

Hmm, better delivery to the gate than motorhomes moving in and out?

Many years
Rang up and got a full chinese takeaway meal for two delivered to our wild-parked motorhome whilst on edge of a town down near Almeria on the Spanish coast a while back.
Gave them name of road (and Sat nav coordinates just in case) plus reg number.
Moped lad delivered it about 30 mins later.
Bloody lovely it was too.

Edited to add: this is actually true, we really did do this.
Parked up, got drunk, got hungry, so Googled for local Chinese restaurant, looked up menus on their website, rang them and ordered.
Prawn crackers and plastic cutlery and serviettes and everything.

Trouble is, they are expecting to deliver to the pitch, not the gate. So they get a string of supermarket vans turning up, each wanting access though the barrier and wanting directions to Joe Bloggs' van.

Reception isn't routinely manned mid-morning when arrivals don't start before 1pm. Some access roads are narrow, so they try to keep the traffic as much one way as possible.

Then there are people who book a delivery to coincide with their arrival & get delayed, so reception now have to take delivery on their behalf.

You would think it was possible for the sites to liaise with the local supermarkets to arrange a suitable solution though - consolidate deliveries & so on.

Living the dream.
Can't see a problem with delivering to gate, most are timed deliveries. (y)
