Hi all
I'm a newbie to the site so hello all
Reason I'm on here is behave of my dad who has recently bought a camper van.
As he's retired he does not do the internet
The problem is he is having on is camper he has a solar panel on the roof charging the leisure battery which all works fine .
Then there's a battery master that's supposed to keep the engine battery topped up aswell.
But when left on is drive within a couple of days the engine battery is flat he's just had a new 1 fitted thinking it could be that but not
It seems like it's losing power whilst parked on the drive something draining it
He's left nothing on like stereo lights etc not sure what could be draining it
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Alarm?
You need a multimeter to check the battery voltage. It should read +14V when its charging and 12.5 when it not. Any lower and its odds on the battery is knackered.

That's what he thought and had a new battery fitted a couple of months ago
Do you think it could be the battery again

doubtful, I would expect the alarm to activate if tampered with

as said above a multimeter is needed

charge the battery when you can (jump start and drive or mains charger if possible) then check voltage when disconnected (after a few hours) should still have 12.5V +

if it were me I would try and get back to where the battery was changed ask them to check it (y)

Thanks all
He took it back to were he bought the camper from I think he said he laid about £18k for and only got 3 months warranty
The place he got it from has not been very helpful at all
Will mention to him about a multi meter and il pop over and check it for him

Thanks for your help guys

It is quite likely that some after market work has been done, it really could be anything, without a proper check of battery state, Amps output and visible wiring you potentially have a big job on, best of luck

if you don't have confidence in the supplier, it might be worth finding a good local service agent or a mobile service to do a habitation check and ask them to check the battery as part of the checks, could be a well spent £200 or less
