Now that I’m trying to get an Irish passport and won’t be subject to the normal 90 days out then in. Still have to bring the van back to the uk for mot once a year though, anyone got a tip for a good mot garage near a uk ferry port?

Do you mean any channel port?
I've used Mr MOT at Burgess Hill, 45 mins from Newhaven for more than 10 years for the car, m/h and motorbikes.
They don't do repairs but just MOT's are are sensible and reasonable people.
