I wonder if someone more knowledgeable can tell me if this mot advisory is a big deal on a motorhome:
  • Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement slight wear in the rear bush (5.3.4 (a) (i))
It is on a ford transit base, 10 years old and 11,000 miles. Presumably we could ask the dealer to fix this?? But is it indicative of any other issues or something we should run a mile from?

That sounds pretty standard, especially on something 10 years old. Always replace bushes, seals and gaiters when advised, as it is generally simple to do and they can deteriorate, causing more expensive problems.
 
I would always have anything connected to suspension, brakes or steering changed as it won’t get better.
 
We advise this stuff quite often sometimes for a few years if it does not get any worse if tyres are wearing evenly it's probably fine in theory it's a fairly simple job if you can get the bolt out
 
I recently did the bottom ball joint on my Shogun.

That’s and interesting and frustrating one to do.
It’s the three bolt type.

Its probably not urgent at 11,000 miles, and a job that any decent mechanic can do. I would defiantly do it before setting off on a heavily laden long trip.

MOT advisories are strange things. My Honda Motorcycle (VFR 800) had one for a warped front disk for two years, but not since. As the disks at £100 each only had .5mm of wear and no run out vibration etc I never changed them.
 
I would get it checked, not just changed, as I don’t have that much faith in testers to always know what they are talking about, or are not just generating work.

Think to yourself. Is it not worth doing as you are travelling along at 70 mph?
Cost about £100 all in. 10 years wear for £10 per year 19p per week

I’m not bothered about the cost but just wondering if it’s a reason not to buy. Also, when purchasing from a dealer would it be usual to ask them to undertake any advisories mentioned on an mot?

I'd buy.

Its wear and tear tbh in a 10yo van.

Ask then to change it but then you risk losing the van as it's a sellars market ATM.

I think it would be the least if your worries compared to damp / rust......

Normal wear and tear, nothing sinister to worry about.
It won’t go away so you have a choice
1. do it soon(ish) when time is on your side, you can choose who does it
2. leave it to another MOT when it might get a bit more urgent
Neither way saves you any money though
 
Just had the MOT done on the car and motorhome. Same garage and same day, same tester.

Car, advisory that rear brake pads low, I changed them last year so they aren’t.

Motorhome, no advisories and passed, brake warning light came on a day later and front pads were worn to minimum.

It is advisable to check what they say, it’s a quick cursory glance and not a strip down inspection they are doing.

Being a Ford, my old Mondeo used to eat suspension arms, it’s normal and not expensive to sort.
 
I find many advisories can be dismissed as "the tester feels he/she has to write something"
My RV had the same advisory more than once.......
'This vehicle is fitted with 3 point seatbelts'
Why?

My car had the favourite......'front brake pads badly worn', they were half worn
 
On suspension and brakes I always get the work done immediately it appears on an advisory. But I do trust my usual MOT guys.

One thing I do though, is if it says offside x, y or z. I always do both sides at the same time. Be that top strut bearings, bushes or gaitors. If once side is showing distress you can almost guarantee the other side will quickly follow.
