Thursday week we are off for a 5 week tour along the Moselle, starting where it meets the Rhine. Has anyone any idea what kind of weather we might exspect.
You can get a forecast for up to 10 days for any town you type in on this site. www.yr.no
There is a button to select English if it tries to speak Norwegian to you!
There's a nice stopover at Millery right by the Moselle, no facilities other than water and an waste disposal. No shops, no restaurants, so stock up first. PS free!!
Plenty of stellplatz along the Moselle, all good. Don't know if you're planning on following it into France but 5 weeks seems a long time from Koblenz to Trier. We only spent a week doing that amount and only travelled short distances each day.
We really liked Kinheim & Wintrich - particularly enjoyed the wine from Schneider & Faber in Kinheim and Marx in Wintrich. Just paid a return visit to those 2 places to buy some more!
We followed the Mosel into France on this last trip but didn't see much that made it worth following so headed to the Vosges/ Alsace.
We are there now. Weather cooler than forecast but so far we have only had one duff day in the week we have been here . We are cycling the Moselle Radveg almost every day having started in France . The French bit is not all that attractive .The best bits are between Trier and Koblenz . Before setting off every day we check the weather on germany doppler radar online to decide if we need to take umbrella.
We are off 5th June, calling at Ypres, Cologne and Koblenz before we track the Moselle to Trier, after that we will see what takes our fancy.
Euro heading up nicely.
Hmmm....I think it deserves a bit longer than 5 days . Although 5 weeks may be a bit too long . Time to take in the Romantic road as well ? All depends on what you do ... a whistle stop tour or take your time and smell the roses ....and drink the wine . Just do it your way !
Think a few weeks is great. We did Moselle, Rhine, romantic road and Black Forest last year. Black Forest is great as you get free transport all over the area. Looking forward to much of the same in June.
