So are we, just arrived pitch 167 ?
I think I got the wrong book David! The Aires we saw was €5 and was just a car park, now closed!

We have stopped at what I thought was Knaus Camping - and it is - but in Burgen and not Koblenz! ?. You don’t want me as your navigator!

Which site are you on?

Mind you don’t end up in Norway, be careful with your sat nag spelling ?

Update on today’s journey , less than 100 miles today ? don’t show the mpg to Cliff ? this included doing 55mph to keep pace with the lorries on the motorway

So are we, just arrived pitch 167 ?

Hopefully the highest price we will pay this trip €37 / night fir a pitch no larger than a lot of aires

But we can see the Mosel and the Rhine from our pitch ??

€37 ???!!!???

How much??!!??

The south of France is cheap in comparison
Only paying €9 for a waterside pitch within walking distance of a winery

And the food is much nicer in France me thinks - all overcooked and chewy in Germany

We’re parked up in Burgen, in Knaus Camping but with ACSI €20. Almost riverside pitch. We stopped on a Stellplatz at Braubach yesterday, riverside space for €12. Walked into a very pretty little town and into this little pub.

Circa 1597 (as was mein host and hostess). We didn’t understand anything they said, but managed to get hot dog and chips! Wine was warm, but Cliff’s beer was good!

Didn’t think much of the condiments though .....

Very much thinking the way you do, we came this way for a change, first stop already too touristy for us

Not only have they deprived us of €74 that could have bought a lot of gin, the Wi-fi is chargeable ? and the electrics that we don’t really need only 6A, forgot Alde was set at 2Kw tripped our feed twice, luckily post is unlocked ?

We will not be returning and wish we hadn’t booked 2 nights

And another thing it is raining ?

On a more fun note we could play pooh sticks with barges, the biggest barge I have ever seen , in battleship grey called Lynn has just headed up the Mosel, fully suspect it to be stuck in bridge 1 ? but if not who will see it next

Or did anybody on the Mosel have a load of logs come past them some time ago? They have just reached the Rhine ?

Add Wintrich as a possible stop when you come down.
We are here now. €10 for 24 hours including electric, WiFi, grey and toilet dump. Water 10c for 9 ltr. Big pitches on the river bank . Cycle tracks going through.

Just had our first mini meet of the trip Treeeev Trevor and Ching, last saw them at Chester 2 years ago doing the quiz and when we only lost due to some slight cheating by Gerry and Griff on the next table ?

Nice to catch up ?

Now it is dark there are even more boat movements , some monster river cruise ships and equally monster but barely lit commercial barges

Nice to meet up with you and Bev again last night (y). They are having wine festivals in the villages along the Moselle over the next two weekends. We just chanced alone one at Wolf when we stopped for lunch. Lots of food, wine, ompah bands and brass bands playing. A very laid back carnival atmosphere ?

Enjoy the rest of your trip (y)

Cheers Ching & Trevor

Just arrived at Reil for my last few nights in the Mosel area, 3 nights here should cost less than that including electricity (if you get a pitch close enough to reach it) and WiFi.

Plenty of spaces just now, and there seems to be a constant turnover.

Thanks.
cliffandger you decide. Let us know.

Caught the local bus today into Bernkastel.

DavidG58 tonka cliffandger not sure if any of you have been here before and know the way in, but my satnav sent me a route that involved a few streets I'd rather not have been on.
I knew I should be able to make it as someone has to empty the bins surely?
I knew they used a large truck to do this as I met him at an inopportune moment at a hairpin bend on what I will optimistically call a single track road.
Some of the regulars here may be able to suggest a simpler route in but if not, if you're entering Reil across the bridge I think the route below is the best bet.

If you miss that first left turn it becomes much more interesting. I'd suggest keeping on out of town up some switchbacks, turning round and picking that route up again on the way back down.

We are likely to stop a couple of days near Koblenz but not till Wednesday or Thursday
We use Gusler Moselboden site
Short cycle into Koblenz and decent site restaurant (or it was last time we stopped there) couple of years ago. Has the world's most complex showers though?

Made it
Mega traffic getting past Stuttgart?
Couple of days here then heading for Monsachau then home
Have fun folks wherever you are?

If four still count as a mini meet, that is what we have here, arrived at Riel, cliffandger had just arrived but we’re relocating further down the stellplatz where tonka were already parked

We opted to park up near entrance, Brendan already there and I quickly worked out this end was a lot nearer the bars ? and we are more or less riverside

The water really looks that green in sunlight

Probably having 2 nights here, just charged both bikes, paid the man his €8 for the night ?? then promptly spent more than we saved on camping fees at the bar on burgers and beer ?

Today’s journey was all of 60 miles and literally right alongside the Mosel all the way

283765F4-40E2-47EA-94A5-9FCC711783C9.jpeg

Very pretty drive, best miles of the trip so far by some ? liking the Mosel valley again now ?

Had to stop for fuel

5C3462EC-989D-41B4-91A0-8ED4F17F6144.jpeg

That caused a bit of debate ending in an instruction from Bev that I must put in the diesel from the right hand pump. I had wanted to continue with super diesel based on improved mpg so far this trip, but couldn’t work out what was what, I did sniff the left hand pump and confirmed that was petrol, Bev wouldn’t let me sniff the rest so plain diesel we have. Can anybody translate the others ?

A quick bimble round the village we found a Geo cache ? outside the wine museum which we went into hoping more for samples than knowledge , came out with neither , bit like someone’s house but full of stuff ?

Saw these

88813FBE-3C06-40BC-8385-B4D5E3325CA2.jpeg

Then decided it was beer o’clock, then stayed long enough to eat tea while there ??

Back for a rather nice fizzy white that Brendan has discovered, now come in from the relative chill following a sunny day

Bev has discovered a load of geo caches the other side of the river I think that is why we are staying 2 nights ?
