Planning to do the Moselle this year.
I know there are cycleways there but I don't know if they are separate from the roads or running parallel etc.
My wife is a nervous cyclist and is more at home on cycleways away from traffic.

Could anybody advise please?

TIA

Extension of the pavement. my wife is the same, but Moselle is a a pleasure to cycle

The cycle routes are separate in some places and alongside the road in others.

My wife, a nervous cyclist normally, was quite happy on them.

We joined it at Edier Eller and left near Trier last year the majority seem separated from the road, looked very safe to ride on.

My wife is same, very nervous cyclist but the Moselle is one of the areas she will cycle. ?

We have the guide book to cycling the Moselle as it was on our "to do" list for this year but things change ...... maybe in a year or two.

Something we will return to. Having cycled other cycleways (in France) and having visited the Mosel, I would invest in a good map/guide book and check out some sections. We noted some sections were on a nice path beside the river with grass between the path and the road. Others, less pleasant, were alongside the traffic. When we do it we will check the map/guide first.

Check out Komoot to plan your ride, it's a dedicated bike route planner. You will be able to see what surfaces you'll ride on. I used it last last for a 1400 mile ride round France and apart from a couple of minor glitches it worked very well.

Some useful cycle route leaflets in the tourist offices, even have e-bike routes over the hills.

And you can cycle for miles too. Reasonable flat in most places
