This trip is selling fast! I think there are now 6 vans going!

I have several questions like,

how many miles will we cover in Morocco and
what options are there for getting from North West England to Southern Spain/Ceuta.

I seem to remember Scotjimland saying something about a long sailing to southern spain? as being an option to driving through France and Spain. What does anyone know?

Suzi the long crossing are very expensive for an Rv and I am talking 000's not 00,s, the 24 hour crossing is OK but after 12 hours I'm always itching to get off, unless I'm in one of the review bars or the casino.:winky: Even with my 8mpg and cat2/3 peage it is much cheaper to travel down by road, any way if you stay off the autoroutes its a fantastic trip down to Spain through france, much better than vomiting for 12 hours into the Bay of Biscay:roflmto:

What does that mean?

Give one of the ferry companies a ring, Bilbao P&O or Santander Brittany, I think I remember paying £750 quid for a 24 ft motorhome almost TEN years ago I'd hate to think what the crossings cost now, well over 1200 I would have thought and if you want an outside cabin more than that.

Oh, you shocked me there, I thought you'd nodded off!

Well if you are travelling down we will meet up with you and go through France and Spain if you think thats cheaper. Bryan isn't too good on ferries. Spent most of the time hanging over the side of the ferry going to France!

Ferries

Suzy,
A lot of the French travel from Sete in France to Tangier...gotta be worth a look too I should think (although , they probably get a good deal that won't be available to us Englanders...Paranoid again !!)!!

We always do the drive through France & Spain & then the ferry journey from Algeciras to Tangier....the 1st year we travelled via Cueta & IT WAS CHAOS !!...Tangier is much more cosmopolitan & professional (although still a bit of an eye-opener if all you have been used to is the very correct, polite, english ports)...Three lanes of traffic all converge into one lane with 2 very overworked port policeman trying their best to sort everyone out !!! Last year it took us 3 hours to cover 200 yards!! I kid you not !! BTW, anyone towing a car should ensure that the RV & car have different registered owners as the port authorities were very nervous about allowing I person to import 2 vehicles !!! (makes no difference to the cost of the ferry as all rigs (car, caravan, motorhome & trailer or any combination)up to 14 metres are covered for one charge...earlier this year it was 220 Euros return)
Anyway...any further questions about Morocco...we are happy to oblige !!!

Jenny & Gordon

Hi Jenny and Gordon,

Thanks for your response. I have since found out that we are all meeting up somewhere near Malaga and travelling together for the crossing from Algeciras. Luckily that crossing is part of the deal so I don't need to worry about it.

I can't wait for the trip. I am sure I will have lots of questions nearer the time and I will come to you!

Thanks again.
