I know there are a couple of great threads going about Morocco and have read parts of them but before I spend hours reading them all could I just ask a question. How easy would it be to get all the insurance and other requirements for travel for someone between 80-85 year old. We both would like to go but don’t want to get too involved if it’s a non starter. Thanks

IMO it shouldn't be any more difficult than for any European company - some travel insurance companies actually include Morocco under Europe!
If you've followed the threads you've probably noticed that vehicle insurance is not so easy, many companies now refusing to cover - but that's not an ageist problem. Actually one company that still covers motorhomes is SAGA........

Our good friends and Funsters Portland are in that age group, are Morocco regulars and hopefully will be going over later this month.

If you want a full oversight of everything you need to think about download a copy of my article "taking a Motorhome to Morocco" from the Resources section. It's around 4/5 yrs old but is still pretty relevant - although prices are a bit different now I understand.

I understand from a couple of utubers sites that you buy Insurance cover as you cross the border into Morocco to cover you whilst you are in country. I am happy to stand corrected. 😉

Yes it is possible to buy motor insurance cover at the border. However it's 3rd party only and haven't heard of anybody actually having to use it so no idea if it's any good. Personally I wouldn’t recommend it.
Last I heard about €300 for 3 months

I actually got my insurance with NFU with a Green card for Morroco at a lower cost than my renewal! I was quoted by Saga but at £800 I declined. My Scooter was insured at the border as the best quote in UK was£200 and 2months was €155 at the border, both 3rd Party only, for which I got an official looking printed document with helpline numbers and an official looking document number. Wether it's worth the paper it's printed on hopefully won't be discovered but at least I'm legal at police checkpoints

Sorry I hadn’t seen these replies before now, for some reason I had hit the ‘unwatch’ button. Thanks for your replies

I insured my motorhome last night at the border €155 for 2 months. No other option for me as my insurance safeguard doesn't cover Morocco and renewal not due till mid May.

I'm hoping not to have to test whether it's any good or not. But comes with the territory.

Lv include it on their travel insurance and motorhome policies but will no longer cover your Harley (just on the off-chance  )

I got a green card with NFU insurance but I had to insure our van with them for a year.
£378 I think good luck.

Just for clarity NFU green card fir Morocco is normally 3rd party only.
Yes fully comp MAY be stated by insurance companies BUT I suspect that in the event of a serious occurrence, it would be third party only. That seemed to be all that was available to buy at the border and bloody expensive it was too.
But others may have a different take on it all.
Good luck ( but DO IT )
Get South of Casablanca asap.

Good advice! Same advice I give! down on Atlantic Park hiding from wind for the night. Want to stop on Terre d'ocean again if wind drops then down to Sidi Ifni and a bit of a circle inland back. Trip number 5 and still loving it.

I put the NFU clarification for the benefit of others really.
