Well you got a better response than I did Sue.

Where did you get that article about IDP? Seems to be contrary to me - do we or don't we need IDP in Morocco in the future? But I'm getting both anyway to cover Europe - just in case..................

According to our research, you need to get IDP1949 for Spain form 1 August 2020 for visits longer than six months, IDP1968 for France and Morocco and it says you may need a none specified one Portugal.

Seems like they're putting as many obstacles in the way for us Brits - was to be expected.

All a knee jerk reaction I think. If Boris gets in its no changes until near end of 2020 and if f**kface gets in there will be no changes at all. Well re-negotiation for 9 months and then a referendum on stay and pay or stay and pay more.

Idp waste of time and money. It just reflects everything that's on your licence and it looks like something out of the war.

Thats amazing. My annual premium at £300.92 ( Ive checked) is less than some of the green card quotes on here.

Anecdotally when I first moved from Comfort to Saga everyone said that the first year might be good but the renewals would be excessive - I'm now in the 4th year. I always seem to get a better deal by phoning them.

I rang Saga for my green cards today.

First lady said the EU one was on its way.

The second lady in relation to Morocco wanted to know:

When I am leaving UK and which port I am leaving from
and arriving at.

Which countries I am travelling through.

Which port I am leaving Spain from and date

Which port I am sailing to in Morocco

When I am returning from Morocco

Which countries I will be driving through to get back

When I am returning to UK

Which port am I returning from(to UK)

When is my MOT

.........and then said it was too soon to ask for a green card as my plans might change.

She said the underwriters wanted all these details and wanted to ensure we complied with six months UK residency rules. ( I didn't ask!!!!!)

Guy's you may find this campsite of interest if you want somewhere to relax with a good standard.
Its just off the Toll road outside Marrakesh and A good stopover if using the toll road to get south seeking good weather. The hotel type building is a great place to relax during the day or in the evening and free Wifi included. CC54366

But you will still get you Green Card F.O.C. Which is the main thing. I’ve just had the email confirming
A 12 month green card
A green card for Morocco upon notification of above.
The same terms for 3 years

I will be cancelling Comfort and using Saga, it still works out cheaper!

Just checked Comfort for green card, over 3,5t is as said £33.60 per wk +£ 20.00 admin charge

Yep, confirmed. Just been on to them for ours and quoted the same. But at least they'll send me a European Green Card for nothing.

Seemed very surprised when I told the nice lady that I could get one for nothing with Saga, although the base premium was a little higher - but not more than the combined premium and Green card fee with them. But I did say it wouldn't be happening again - well not with Comfort which is a shame because otherwise they are an excellent company to deal with I've found.

There's no point in changing insurers at this stage though. But we'll have to think carefully that this could well be our last visit to Morocco.

Next job, IDP's.

Just for clarity Terry, I don't think the green card for Morocco is foc, AFAIK its £25 but for the whole period

There seem to be more and more of these fake Kasbahs springing up, unmistakably Moroccan.

Great that they will accommodate us MH ers , imagine the reaction from most Hotels in UK!

Dont think there be a problem if you were with Saga in the first place would there?

Not quite sure who thats aimed at, I'm not seeking to criticise but if you quote the post or preceed the user name with BILL 875 you are more likely to get the response/clarification from the post.

If its billym post about Saga - think Ive said before that they are reluctant to actually quote the green card until you commit to the insurance but then its £25. It is a bit of a leap of faith tbf.

When I said for nothing I was of course ignoring the administration charge which I would guess is what Saga charge £25 for? Comfort charge £20 admin charge on top of the weekly amount.

That’s them Bill, got ours yesterday, we were in the PO over an hour, including photo booth time. The one for Spain only lasts twelve months, the one for France/Maroc lasts three years but only two in my case, as I will have to renew my UK licence before then. What struck me was the laborious hand written transposition of licence groups, name, address and then umpteen stamps in four IDP’s. As the woman on the counter said they’ve never done as many IDP’s and early renewal of passports due to breksh1t uncertainty.

Got mine in northern Ireland post office. Straight in and out, and knew what he was doing! The customer behind me was after the same.

My Motor Insurance company will not cover Morocco (Safeguard). I know that you are not allowed to have double insurance which I assume is to stop dou ke claims on one accident.
If I go to Morocco, will I be legally allowed to find an alternative company who will insure us just for the Morocco trip? Any recommendations, (ideally uk based)?

In the several years we've been going there haven't seen a UK insurance company do a short-term cover for Morocco.

It is possible to buy insurance at the border inbound but it's quite expensive and I believe third-party only.

sciac2001 I changed insurers the first time I went to morocco to get green card.

Many Thanks. (I have all the green cards that I need - Brexit phobia earlier this year.) we also spend more ime than the “norm” abroad so Safeguard was the best solution for our requirements. Will look into local arrangements. Thanks again.

Maybe I’m being a little daft, but isn’t the Morocco discussion thread normally on the general ‘chat’ section of the general forum, as opposed to being on this subject sub section’....?. Can it be added to the general ‘chat’ section ?.
Sailing from Portsmouth on the 8th January, and guess going to see Carlos a week later ish....
