Hi, has anyone been to Monaco or near & know of a safe place to park over night? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You can park at the old border buildings in menton, usually loads there so pretty safe and if you get there early enough you can also park undercover

Happened to us while in St Jean du Luz, had wifi for literally long enough to post and wait 30 mins, but cldn't get the answers for approx 6 hours. Peeps wld have thought we'd read reply but hadn't .

I suspect from a quick glance at their blog, they decided against Monaco so quite simply never revisited their thread to see if anyone had responded
But I agree that it is poor - especially when one asks a direct or specific question, not to acknowledge any answers even if you no longer want to know.

If you do park there, it's quite a short train ride to ventimiglia in Italy, reputably one of the largest markets in Europe on a Friday very nice if you are into such things right at the side of the sea, fantastic atmosphere acres of it, admitted loads the same but we have been a few times and never tire of it.

This is a great forum, thanks for the info re Menton and the Itailian Market town. We are currently in Salon De Provence and heading along the coast of the French Riviera over the next two weeks. Any more info on places to stay or visit would be greatly received.
On our list at present are Martigues, Aix en Provence, (possibly St-Mandrier-Sur-Mer and Toulon), St Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco and Monte Carlo. All other suggestions appreciated

Plus 1 for the Italian market. There's the usual array of knock off copy designer bags etc but the food side - especially the cheese - is fabulous.

You can buy a massive chunk of 36 month aged Parmesan for about €35. By massive chunk I mean about a kilo. They'll vacuum wrap it.

We then carve a lump off it to use and vac pac the remainder, lasts ages.

Tastes much nicer and far cheaper than UK supermarket stuff

We just stopped on a site in Latte. Bit busy, and tight. Owner took us to the train station, past the Italy/French border. The border was very busy with the French checking every one coming in. When we boarded the train, there were police everywhere, stopping the train while they searched every bit of it.
They took about 4 people off and took them away.
Monaco was boiling that day, but a beer and a glass of fizz in the Cafe Paris out side the casino made us feel loads better. But at €30 for the round, they had to drag me from my seat. A few nice cars to watch though.
Then back on the train, campsite owner picking us up from station again and a few beers in his bar

Love ventamiglia. When we used to go on shearings coach tours they always went there, never seen anything like it before at that time
And you can get there easily by motor home contrary to what people say, just follow the old road and pull in the first car park you come to, don't try going into the middle of town.

Thanks again guys for the info we are now in Aix en Provence. Did The Camargue, yesterday and we though Saint Maries de la Mer was brill. Today we visited Martigues via bus, we stopped overnight on an Aire at Carro, 9.10 euro for 24 hours right on the sea front, very good.
