Modifying front bench seat (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I had a query pop up and usually lurk this forum for inspiration, but finally posting to look for some help in regards to anyone knowing the legality of cutting the front bench seat in a van?

It's a 2 seat bench and i want to cut it down into a single seat and use that space to store my leisure battery, but if i cut one side of the backrest off wouldn't the otherside lose it's support thus making it a MOT failure?

Would i have to leave the whole metal structure intact order to make the remaining side legal?

Easier and safer to just change it for a single seat.

If your van has the double size seat mount box then you can cut that down to take a single seat
but as already suggested buy a 2nd hand seat and single mounting box is far simpler and will make a far better looking job

That's what I done changed it to a single seat very easy to do
