In the latest edition of MMM there appears a letter from myself in response to a letter the previous month about the need for packaging their magzine in something other than plastic. Their view is we should all be switching to an online magazine anyway. In my letter I stated that "tablets and mobiles are hopeless in broad daylight". They changed the wording to "tablets and mobiles are not so good in broad daylight". Now you might agree with their wording but the point is this is my letter therefore my opinion, which is actually based on use of a tablet in broad daylight. It's obvious they don't like my wording as it goes against their narrative. Shame on them.

It begs the question how many comments are doctored.

Don't they call that "Artistic license". Probably in the small print somewhere.

‘We reserve the right to edit…..’ is what they usually say….. :(

If it was a paid article then they would likely have every right to chop and change anything they liked. Maybe they reserve the right to change a "letter to the editor" too; but I agree Its not really on.

Now if they'd have added to your letter a sentence whereby you complained it was hopeless trying to watch porn in the sun on a tablet you'd have a case, otherwise, I'd just let it go and not write in again. :D

What your original wording tells me is you haven't experienced devices with good screens. They were sparing your blushes as some screens are readable in sunlight, they aren't perfect but are workable.

But as already stated they have the right to edit letters and may just have been trying to avoid someone like me writing in to say their screen isn't hopeless in bright light and a ding-dong of letters ensuing. Hopeless generalisations are best avoided :)

mountains an molehills IMO life really is too short

Totally agree I struggle to read mags/ papers outside, luckliy we seem to get enough English summer weather to catchup, ie cooler windy days, so catch up indoors. Plus while we are on a Dinosaur type moan when was the last time analogue TV broke up in bad weather apart from the transmitter blowing down. This all singing and dancing Digi tv is full of crap programs so they spread it with lots of channels full of crap so you may be lucky and get something decent! It always lets you down when you most need it ,same as Internet!

On the question of their magazine being sent out in plastic, I’ll get my wife on the case.
The latest wrapping is called “Paperwrap” which she sells, she keeps reeling (sorry 😂) off to me all the magazine titles that have switched over to this paper wrap wrapping.
