Had a very strange journey home from Hereford.

We always wave to other MH's (Panelvan, C class or A class of any age) when passing on single carriageway A Roads and I would say that 90% of the time we get a response, this is in a 2012 C class.

Today the strangest thing happened, the trend took a gigantic step in the opposite direction, at most 10% waved back!

There were only Three differences that we could think of that may have affected this.

1) I was driving an A Class.

2) It was an older van.

3) Two males (reasonably ugly) were sitting up front.

Anyone got any thoughts on it?

Cheers

I will go with option 3..

But if anyone did it to me I was busy looking at my Air suspension guages, checking that i had finally fixed them..

don’t wave to motorhomes, years of waving to motorcyclists, then to Subaru drivers I’ve now got arthritis in the wrists
Motorcyclists used to all chat when meeting up most motorhomes don’t want to speak when on sites

It seems to scare the inmates , talking to them 😂

I wave at A Class, B Class, C Class, no class, food delivery vans, white vans, motorcycles (when I've forgotten what I'm driving) and occasionally empty cars that look like they might want to leave their drive...

I have noticed less waving back and more looking at their controls rather than the traffic outside. I've kind of put this down to newbies and hired MHs. 🤷‍♂️

PS Empty cars rarely if ever wave back.

Since we have had the ambulance we get o% wavers, when we first had it we used to wave but getting no response means we don't wave to any now.
People are frightened that you will chase them(pun intended) and use the DeeFib on them 😈😈😈🤭

Rarely get a wave back since changed from mh to pvc. Rarely wave now. A shame.

To be fair, many PVCs look like vans from the front. By the time it is level with you, it's too late. Some suggestions

Wave early. Van drivers never wave to anyone.
Get yourself an overcab, with a top bulge bigger than Elvis's quiff. Unmistakeable
Paint "Yes I am a bleeding motorhome, not a bleeding Amazon multidrop" on the front of your bus.
Phone everyone that is coming the opposite way so they can be ready

Thanks are unnecessary, I live to help.

I find that a lot wave, it's just when they park up in the same area as far as possible away from us. We are "self sufficient" which as we all know, when translated from Motorhome speak, is sometimes we have a shower!!

Option 4, 2 miles up in front of you going in the same direction are a group of incredibly boring motorhomers and the people coming towards you are fed up with not getting a response.

Every once in a while and for no apparent reason we go for the 2 person double handed passenger standing up jazz hands up wave whilst in slow traffic. That has never failed to get a response

I had quite a high percentage wave today travelling from Lincoln to the Peak District, I managed not to wave at any horse box vans🙂
