enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
Hi, I am looking for any recommendations for long arm mirror protectors. in particular does anyone have white guards fitted onto black mirrors? I ask because against the black cab doors etc, it might make white ones stand out a little bit more and make them more noticeable to oncoming drivers? I know it might make them look a bit odd and aesthetics are important but so is protecting expensive mirrors and the motorhome !!

Base vehicle is a Peugeot Boxer 2015

I’ve got silver ones on my white motorhome. That way they stand out (colour wise), and then match/complement the silver grill surround.

Yes, we have white Mirror Guards on our van.

If you want ones that look the part then get the Milenco ones but if you want them to look the part and do the job then again genuine Mirror Guards.

Put some 3M reflective on them for night time.

it does seem to make sense to make them stand out

Paul & Yvette - I like the idea of the reflective tape aswell !

Mirror guards are expensive but are high impact resistant,i can honestly say never notice the colour when another van approaches with them fitted.

Or stick on some smiley faces. :xThumb:

Definitely mirror guards we fitted white on ours so they stand out to oncoming traffic we had a jousting match with a white van man and I must say he totally lost that contest smashed his mirror completely off his van ours only had a scuff mark on which very soon polished of so top marks for mirror guards. ?

Silver on mine

When I fitted (original) Mirrorguards to our Ducato I immediately noticed oncoming drivers were keeping a little further away from us! We even had a logging truck - and they take no prisoners! - take to a hedge when he came round a bend, too fast as usual, to find us coming the other way. Mind on that occasion I did "test" the nearside one against some bushes but with no damage.

Over the years they have saved our mirrors on several occasions - I'll admit a couple were my fault so I wear the odd scrape as "battle damage"!

I'm not sure the cheaper Milenco guards are up to that task though.

Thanks everyone for responding with your views. we will be going for white ones. just need to find out and compare prices. most folk seem to recommend Mirror Guards, so I will be taking a close look at them, once again, thanks everyone.

i did take a close look, at £120 a pair they seem rather expensive compared to Milenco or even 'generic' make from ebay, are they really that much better?

Make your own mind up. :xThumb:

The Milenco's

The king's are the Mirror Guards which are fully lined with a shock absorbing foam. (y)

Yes but they are sooo ugly and make the mirrors a larger target. I prefer the thin ones. In fact as I sell them I can tell you we have had a number of customers come back with praise and stories about incidents where they have saved their mirrors. They are only available in black or white are only £34.99 a pair and I can offer 5% discount to funsters (not via ebay) Mirror Covers

No sorry cant help, The problem is there isn't enough transits with the same arms for it to be worth tooling up to make them.

Like that those have reflectors on the mirror side as well.

Did try and buy some secondhand genuine MG a while back. But the seller wouldn't post them in case they got damaged... ??

Courier would have to run his truck over then

I have only been motorhoming for just over a year and have seen quite a few mirrors smashed.... and after checking all makes out i chose MG (White Ones) as recommended by seller and others i spoke too.

You pays your money and takes your choice.
With the greatest respect to Jezport I want my mirrors, as far as possible anyway, to be protected rather than just look pretty. That's why I chose/recommend the original Mirrorguards.

You also want them bigger so more chance of hitting them!

If I add a thin foam layer internally for additional shock absorption, would they still fit?

It comes with a thin black foam rubber pad which fits but I have not tried adding stuff so cant say yes or no.

Last moho was Bailey Autograph Approach 750 Black cab with white protectors on, did stand out quite a bit and looked good. Having said that if trotting along on a narrow Scottish road if you make contact with some of the timber HGV`s I dont really think any of the makes are going to make any difference, whether its Mirror Gaurd, Milenco or other.
A bit of foam padding is not going to make much if any difference.
Yes I have put them on current Moho with reflective strips as some peops above have posted, but only really have faith in them for small scrapes. But astetically look better.

Having lost one complete mirror to a transit van in Yorkshire and one direction flasher to a tractor in Shropshire we bought Mirror Guard protectors for our last van which transferred easily to our new van when we traded it in. They've saved us on a few occasions from inattentive van drivers. Yes, they cost 120 quid but the replacement mirror was 240 quid from Wing Mirror Man. Fiat wanted over 400! So, a good deal.

I picked bought some Mirror Guards at the NEC last October but can’t get them to fit properly. I’ve tried washing up liquid, brute force and a prayer but still they won’t fit evenly. Can anyone tell me the secret please?

We had the same difficulty. The supplied "sticky tape" didn't reach the mirror casing. I bought a roll of double sided foam tape from our local car accessory store, the thick black extra sticky stuff used to attach number plates, and used that. Works a treat. Make sure you line the Guard up carefully before pushing it home as the tape really grabs.

Sellers on ebay claiming same genuine stuff for £2.65 from Manchester.

Ordered some as already got some chinese stuff on mine but tends to lift, for less than a few quid will upgrade
