So, pick up the new motorhome in 8 days! got Thursday to following Monday to use it and figure it's time we did Wales.
Plan so far is
Wednesday - finish work and leave Bedford 6pm ish and head west probably Bourton on the water overnight at the football club
Thursday to Cardiff and spend the day in town and that night
Friday - Get to Tenby, there's a pubstop there about 30 mins walk away but we will either taxi / train it in due to the wifes mobility.
Saturday it gets tricky and here's where I need help.

Im looking for somewhere to stay in Snowdonia that's got great views of the area (more mountainous the better) and it's only one night again, can find places with minimum 2 and 3 nights, not interested in that, just the one night.
Anyone got any recommendations? Oh and dont mind if it's pub / off grid / independent site or CAMC site either.

Sunday we'll likely head for Chester and stay on Little Rhodee then home Monday to Bedford.

Thanks all for any suggestions.

Blimey that’s a lot of miles in a short space of time🤣.
Anyway your question was where to head for mountains. I would probably say anywhere around Llanberis you get mountains and lakes👍

If Cardiff is not arranged, I see many vans overnighting in the Pay and Display car park by the Coach Station in Sophia Gardens. I'm not sure what the rules are except it's not available if any events are on. I'm pretty sure that you haveto get a ticket from the machines.

There is a proper site in Sophia Gardens;

I've stayed twice in Snowdonia, now known as Eryri.

Once in a quiet layby close to Betws-y-Coed but I have no idea where it was.

Also, with permission, in the car park of;

Which in itself is a great activity, especially the underground Zip Lines;

This site is a short walk into Betws y Coed.

Just looked at the reviews, not great really, especially as it appears there's also a sewage treatment plant beside the site :-/

Min y Don at Harlech is a nice site, close to beach, town and north / south railway to other towns
Dammit, also fully booked.

Not arranged but was planning on the Adam street car park as it's a bit nearer into the town for the mrs. As for ziplining, think id crap myself.

As previously said, Tenby to Snowdonia is quite a trek just for one night. Four hours of being stuck behind HGVs and agricultural vehicles at you wind your way north. I'd save Snowdonia for another trip. From Tenby I'd head back to Bedford via the Brecon Beacons or the Black Mountains. At least you're heading vaguely in the right direction to get home. Brecon, Hay on Wye, or Abergavenny all make decent overnight stops. You can overnight for free too in carparks in Powys if staying in the first two towns.

I've already got my plan set out guys. I appreciate the "it's a bit of a trek" "traffic" posts but neither treks nor traffic bother me. This is how we tour, different place every night, rarely do we stay anywhere for more than one, I've said this before.

All Im after is suggestions round snowdonia as I'll then be heading Chester way.

I don't want to put you off but the traffic and parking in Snowdonia in the actual mountains themselves is really bad with cars etc being towed away,. Snowdonia and the area around it takes more time than a quick dash. I think Barti Ddu advice is good,. I'd would keep Snowdonia and the stunning area around for a longer visit, then you could enjoy Betsy-Coed Beddgelert and maybe Conway Llandudno or Anglesey all in easy reach of the Snowdonia Range.

PaulC70 bjust posted and seen you post, maybe longer next time after your whistle stop tour. Good idea Roudee Chester very central.

If they are full online, give Carlo a call on the number.

Fantastic site right in Bethesda and great value.

We always find places to park in North Wales. Just be flexible and avoid the honey pot tourist car parks. It’s one of our favourite places to be. 👍

If you want to try something really different there's a site at Blaenau Ffestiniog (hopefully spelled right) right in the middle of a bunch of slate mines. very evocative of a way of life. Nice tiny sight, friendly owners.

They both look good! I do like the idea of the old slate quarry one, bet that's got some history that town.

This is also worth a visit if you decide to come up through Bedgelert way.

Massive car park and a lay-by right outside if you fancy a walk. There are the old cableways hidden on the hill behind that used to take the ore from the mines to the old railway at Pont Aberglaslyn.

This site is a short walk into Betws y Coed.

Morris Leisure also have a site in Betws y Coed right next to the train station and the golf course that welcomes visitors to the clubhouse.
They also have a site next to Snowden (or what ever they call it now)

There is also an official Snowden 360 route with suggested stopping points.

Cheers all for the suggestions, now though Little Rhodee car park is out the window as someone on facebook on one of the groups has posted a picture of a sign there saying its going to be shut from 26th April until 9th May :-( Only saw this by chance.

Have you tried Porthmadog?

Worth a go, however, as some of the places havent gotten back to us about overnight stops the wifes put the kabosh on the wales run, that's twice in two years now!

So, looks like we'll be heading for northumbria instead.

It sounds as though you have been before. Can you tell me if it's much of a walk up to the town centre, or if there's a bus / taxi service from the site or Railway station?

I have been, it's not far to the town and railway station (15-20 mins walk) and mostly level. But as you head towards the castle it gets very steep, in fact Harlech claimed to have the steepest road in the country, this was challenged by another town and they lost the title. Can't remember who hold title now. Unless you have mobility problems it will be fine.

We’ve just comeback from Llanberis, stayed on the Llanberis Touring Park, part of the Morris leisure group and affiliate of both clubs. Nice easy Walk to town, the lakes and snowdon
