Show it and ask on every transaction , you will be amazed how many companies accept it.
 
I'm waiting for the Veterans card to be made available. It's being issued now to those who are leaving the forces and should have been rolled out to us older Veterans by end of 2019. I cannot find application form on M.O.D. site so have sent off a email asking for clarification. Cheaper rail fares with this one.

Veterans card is different to the discount card which has been available for a long time.
I have heard of the veterans card you mention but as yet don't know much about it.

The veterans card only seems to serve as proof. Reading the website it says once obtained you can then use it to apply for the Defencce discount card that the OP posted.
However if you already have some evidence of service you can apply for the discount card now..
Mine has got me many 25% off at various pub meals. Etc.
Used it for ferry discounts and travelodge.. Even discounted electronics from Samsung.
Worth applying.

Not much different to any discount rail card you can get elsewhere. I went right off the authority’s who issue this things as when I applied for my veterans lapel pin which they sent me along with a nice letter thanking me for my service during WW2.
 
It brings the cost of Nando's down to one that brings it into the near acceptable price zone.

Lost my veterans lapel badge. Wrote of for a replacement. It came within 2 weeks.

Blue Light Card offers the same discounts. Look at the app for various discounts out there. I have used it loads of times

It's the same people, they offer one as the blue light and the other as the Defence card depending on what you qualify for. Silly money for the benefits that it gives. £5 for 5 years.
