I am stopping at Peuplingues Wed for couple of days and thinking of looking around coastal area Boulogne etc. Wondering if its too close to Calais and migrant problem ?

I think most of them have already got here!!!!!!!!!!!We stayed at Bolougne sur mer Aire in that heat wave a couple of weeks ago didnt see any.
5,000 in dinghies already this month according to the R4 6 o'clock News.I think most of them have already got here!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, not being funny, but is there a link between immigrants and dog kidnapping? We stopped at Boulogne 2 yrs ago and felt uneasy with what looked like an immigrant hanging around. We decided not to leave the van. 2 days later we read of a dog kidnap from the day we were there. Be careful.
Maybe, maybe not. I’ve said my experience , what’s wrong with that. Is there a difference between a nit comb and a Bain combSorry, not being funny, but is there a link between immigrants and dog kidnapping?
Did I say there was anything wrong? I was just curious. It was just an interesting statement you made.Maybe, maybe not. I’ve said my experience , what’s wrong with that. Is there a difference between a nit comb and a Bain comb
Hope not, because I am not going there again if I think my dogs will be stolenSorry, not being funny, but is there a link between immigrants and dog kidnapping?
Whether it’s a van, bike, dog etc you just need to be extra vigilant. Don’t give anyone an opportunity to rob you. If it doesn’t look/ feel safe then move on.Hope not, because I am not going there again if I think my dogs will be stolen

To be fair dog napping was rife here in certain areas as well a year or two back but seems to have tailed off (sorry!) after the market for 'covid stay at home dogs' market is no longer what it was, in fact rather the opposite from recent reports. So I think you should have no worries now either side of the water.Hope not, because I am not going there again if I think my dogs will be stolen

I wonder what's on the menu tonight EgonWe stopped at Boulogne 2 yrs ago and felt uneasy with what looked like an immigrant hanging around. We decided not to leave the van. 2 days later we read of a dog kidnap from the day we were there. Be careful.

Makes you wonder why they bother to check in your loo for the remote possibility of finding just one.
It’s even more of a pity that we don’t still have the Dublin agreement where we could legally take them back to France, hence why there are so many making the dangerous crossing since we left the EU.
1000 made the crossing today, a new record.
Nonsense! They can't be coming now we have control of our borders and a Home Secretary second to none.Nothings changed, They came before, during and after. We never did take any back because the French wouldn't have them
And we were told it would all stop if we voted to leave.Nonsense! They can't be coming now we have control of our borders and a Home Secretary second to none.
The number coming pre Brexit was minuscule. They only do it now as once here they are legally our problem which wasn’t the case before.Nothings changed, They came before, during and after. We never did take any back because the French wouldn't have them
Not to worry about the cost of food and heating must be great. All they have to worry about now is not getting sent back to a murderous regime or Rwanda. It sounds amazing.Sorry, I made a mistake on the number for yesterday it was actually 1295. All of which will be put up in hotels and not have to worry about the cost of food or heating
They are refugees awaiting processing. Once they are rejected (majority aren't as they have a legitimate case), they become illegal immigrants and get deported. The reason there are so many refugees in the system is the system is slow and there's a massive backlog of years. This isn't because so many are arriving (the numbers have remain pretty much unchanged for years), it's because we're dealing with them so slowly. If we want less people stuck in accommodation which obviously costs a lot of money, we need to process them faster.I listened to a programme a few days ago where it was said that almost one hotel in every town in the UK is housing illegal migrants and in the same programme it was estimated there was half a million illegal immigrants in the UK.
I know someone who recently bought a large hotel he was going to develop the land but instead is cashing in housing migrants and planning to buy another one to continue doing the same. While waiting for our ferry at Patras (Greece) I watched migrants, in broad daylight trying to get beyond the port entrance barrier's and was amazed at how openly they kept trying to get beyond the security and watched them climbing under HGV's only to be picked up by sniffer dogs at the entrance gate. I mentioned it to security and they told me it went on day after day and if caught they were just released and obviously they would try again and I assume continue to try to the point of success. The other thing that was impressive was there agility and fitness. They could climb a 15 foot security fence in two quick movements and I suspect they did this a number of times a day. If they decided to use force against tourists we would not stand a chance, they are quick, strong and mostly all young men. The main deterrent to this I believe is the rigorous checks that take place when entering the ferry port. I listened to a programme a few days ago where it was said that almost one hotel in every town in the UK is housing illegal migrants and in the same programme it was estimated there was half a million illegal immigrants in the UK.
This is all true which is why it drives me nuts. They are refugees awaiting processing. Once they are rejected (majority aren't as they have a legitimate case), they become illegal immigrants and get deported. The reason there are so many refugees in the system is the system is slow and there's a massive backlog of years. I think (might be wrong?) that the majority of the illegals in the UK are people that arrived on a Visa that expired and they haven't left. In terms of numbers, dinghies aren't a significant problem.
And overall, people arriving in boats make up a tiny proportion of the immigrants into the UK each year.
Not to worry about the cost of food and heating must be great. All they have to worry about now is not getting sent back to a murderous regime or Rwanda. It sounds amazing.
Joking aside, if we had a Government concerned about fuel and food bills it wouldn’t be an issue anyway.
It always amazes me how decent, relatively well off people can get so annoyed at others wanting a better life and risking that life to achieve it. Thousands dying in hospital delays but get triggered by people in small boats.
They are humans who deserve our sympathy and understanding, the responses from some people about the subject always makes me disappointed.
there is an issue with them and stealing full stop.Sorry, not being funny, but is there a link between immigrants and dog kidnapping?
Yes, very much so. Freedom of movement gave us access to some very wonderful things. So you are in favour of unlimited numbers of people being able to just enter UK if they feel like it ?
