Hi
I have a mobile phone monthly account which has lots of data which does not get used , thinking of using the Tethering/mobile WIFI facility on my Android mobile phone so I can use the data on a laptop when away in the mobile home. This is because my experience Of WIFI on sites is that it is either none existent, expensive or both! I am currently on the Tesco mobile network.
I have also considered getting a separate MIFI router and SIM card but this seems expensive when I already have unused data.
Anyone any experience of this?

I just use my phone data as well. We can use all our data in Europe now just the same as here. I can tether my iPad and laptop to it. I have 20 gig of data per month. Not run out yet.

I suppose you could. Why you would want to escapes me though. I am just using my phone as a router.

Sometimes where a signal isn't available on a phone it can be picked up on a mifi with an antenna attached. We had this recently at a campsite we stayed at. Nothing on the phone but we were able to pick one up with our mifi and antenna.

I think the tipping point came about a year ago price wise with data allowances becoming far cheaper on phone packages. We were in France over the past week and were regularly picking up 4g - enough to watch tv while using my phone as the router. While I have 3g and 4g mifis we tend not to use them and use my unlimited phone sim from Virgin. I see 3 are doing similar for £20. Just invested in a smart 12v tv as this is the future for internet and tv so no dish or mifi in the future.

Ok when using phone as hotspot( 3) also get a bit of buffering and text calls etc
Pop the sim into mifi still get notification of text but no buffering and phone gets diverted to another incoming number only .
2 sim phone
Simple :D
