Getting the hang of it
Hello
Currently on Orkney but sailing tomorrow then down to Lockness speaking to next door they have hear of plagues of midges around lockness.
Anyone around there confirm this,do we need to stock up on smige ?
I'm like milk and honey to all biting beasts so need to be prepared.

Maybe check out the Smidge website, they give a very accurate midge forecast which updated daily(y)

Thanks for that Wabs, forecast says low occurrence of the little blighters hopefully might
get away without being drained of my lives blood.

Read the guide at the bottom of my page, trouble is that your bang in the middle of the midge season.

👍👍👍,, they are bloody relentless, try to enjoy

I’ve been to Loch Ness. Don’t remember any midges. That was in June and fully geared up in motorcycle kit. Windscreen can’t say the same though😩😩😩

You are actually going to Lochness not lockness.
I think it's contrary to Rule #1 to correct other posters' spelling and/or grammar.
If the OP's meaning is clear then...

I have to say as a scot i was tempted to correct that one myself but at least it wasnt lakeness.

I always find english accents trying to pronounce loch very amusing ....never mind ecclefechan or milngavie 😁

The English don’t have a problem with the pronunciation it’s just you Scots that don’t speak proper like

Milngavie that's pronounced Mulgaii you mean...I was working there for a short while in previous life

Was asked by a lorry driver once how to get to a place in Mouch line ...
Took me a few seconds to realise he meant Mauchline.😎😎😎

Possibly 'low' for Scotland in summer - I'd go prepared.

Not sure about this time of year, when we were up there in August years ago it was ok near the lock further away it was midge fog, practically had to bath in the anti midge stuff.
Love Scotland but that really spoilt it for us at times.
