Hi All I am thinking of putting Michelin Agilis Cross climate on the front wheels has anyone had experience of these. Thanks in advance

Put a set on all four wheels early this year.
They seem OK but haven’t been put into any severe conditions yet.

Richard.

Best tyres should always go on the rear particularly as these will have more grip than your standard tyres.

But its front wheel drive surely better to have them on drive wheels?
Nope, the back end will always break away first hence best tyres should be on the rear. Also you should not mix Alpin rated tyres with standard tyres. Best to replace all 5 so the spare matches.

Typo in there (missing NOT) I think!

I've seen a fair few fatal and serious collisions that resulted from worn tyres on the rear and good ones at the front. You shouldn't mix winter and summer tyres either, as they also have different slip angles which can exacerbate instability. so fit the same type to all wheels or none!

It’s funny that they will put retreads on the rear and new on the front of an hgv and not necessarily the same make.

Not when you consider that retreads are legal, but not recommended to be fitted to the first steering axle.

When fitting retreads, it is the make of the retread that matters, not necessarily the make of the original tyre.

Having different tyres front and rear is not a good idea. Having different tyres of different ages and wear is a really bad idea.

The perverse thing is you won't have a problem in normal driving.

It is only if something surprises you on the road. The typical and often necessary reaction, hard or panic breaking, harsh turn of the wheel or both, will test the limits of your tyres and then you'll have the consequences of your front and rear tyres having very different limits. The risk is having your van totally unbalanced and impossible to control.
