Hello,

We are starting to find mouse droppings in one of the storage units. Anyone got advice on how to get rid of them? Or is just about laying mouse traps around the place?

Cure and then prevention. Traps to catch the blighters first, then remove all sources of food from the van, if there's no food they won't come. For the traps my bait of choice is peanut butter, had great success using it.
 
We’ve used a product called Rat Repel, it’s a powder that we sprinkled around the wheels and the perimeter of the motorhome, not inside.
It’s supposed to smell of bigger badder mice/rats and put others off from that area. We’ve had no mice since.

I posted this on another post.
Peppermint oil is a good repellent, also been recommended some stuff called Irish soap (seriously )but I've never been able to find any.
 
We have an electronic repeller but not convinced its effective. Traps always work, baited with Nutella, other choc/nut spreads are available.

Re peppermint oil, friend had a packet of polos attacked by a mouse.
We have one in the house, saw it disappear under a unit near the fridge, need to try peanut butter or snicker, it didn't fancy the smelly brie.

Just leave some bags of Roban around, they can smell the food inside and chew through the bag for it, so it stays sealed and fresh ?
They sell it on ebay.
 
I have caught 3 already this month using peanut butter and a mouse trap, but I only put the traps in my garage and my shed as I dont want to coax them into my motorhome which is next to the garage. I never had a problem last year and so far no problems this year. But they seem to love the peanut butter.
 
Gromett Saw your post on Fluid Film - looks really good for many applications and I have got some - the electric step works better now its properly lubricated

One question I had around use under a motorhome - it does say ...

"Effect on Rubber - None on neoprene and buna-n. May cause swelling on non oil-resistant rubber goods..."

Theres quite a lot of rubber around the suspension ...bushes, gaskets etc ...anybody know whether any of these are non-oil resistant before I go spraying it about under there?

I can't say for certain but there are hundreds of youtube videos of people both professionals and amateurs spraying everything under the car except the brake disk and exhaust.
I will be spraying indiscriminately when I get round to doing mine.

Irish Spring ?
Used cat litter might be a deterrent, albeit a smelly one.

I bought some humane traps once, they were little cages that trapped them. Kept checking them for ages.. Didn't catch anything. Then when I went away for the weekend there was one in the cage when I got home... Dead.. Starved to death. :giggler: (sorry for laughing but I hate the little sods) This happened a couple of times so I use poison now.
 
The problem with poison is that they tend to curl up and die in areas you can't find them but you can bloody smell them. If they're in the van don't use poison !!

I've just got my van back after having the fuel lines replaced because mices chewed through them ! I've just ordered -

I should add that they are only in the engine bay and air filter housing and not inside the van.

Meant to say that was speaking from experience, I had an Audi A4 and it was parked up in my garage, mice had started to chew things inside my engine bay and the wiring, luckily found out in time before real damage was done.
I still get mice in my garage but find them with there necks snapped in my traps with the help of peanut butter.I have not had a problem with mice in my MH as of yet which is parked up just outside my garage, I am hoping that the peanut butter laced traps I leave for them in my garage keeps them away from my MH. So far so good.

we get the odd one in the loft, play havoc with the christmas decorations as we have just found out - we did have a couple in the motorhome but luckily spotted the droppings before they did any damage - set two traps and got two in the same night, nothing since thankfully !

Used them all the time, in the R-V, when stored outside (Texas) Big Mice!!:giggle:. Got them from Home Depot. (sort of American B&Q). Where do you get them in the UK? John. Oops` just realised Flea bay(y)
 
We have yet again got a problem with mice, have left a trap set need to go down to storage tomorrow to check, It was empty last time, seems they didn't like the chocolate spread, so have used peanut butter. Like the idea of the spray though.
 
If you can't stop them getting in (which is tough given they can get through a 5mm gap), peanut butter in traps is your best hope.

Mice are clever, resourceful and desperate for a safe and warmish refuge. Any repellent will at best, only be temporary.
 
Roban and Big Cheese glue, the glue should ensure the little b.....ds don’t décompose where you can’t find them.
