Any tips for preventing further infestations in van ...and perhaps where to look for ‘hidden’ damage ie favourite places?

If they have been in all winter then a musty smell can be a giveaway. All you can do really is clean everywhere you can see and check that everything works, They love water pipes, especually the fittings and joints and like to strip wire.

In future winters do the chocolate biscuit tell tale. A small piece of biscuit on the floor that you check regularly will give you early warning that you have visitors. (y)

We had a very small hole at the base of the kitchen wall in our flat last winter and were plagued by field mice invasions. Caught 45 of the little buggers before we found the entry point. Favourite catching method was a finely set mousetrap with a small amount of margarine sprinkled with a small amount of hot chocolate powder and place the trap at right angles to the wall. Also place 2 dobs of BluTak on base of trap, because the crafty devils learned to charge at the trap to trigger it and then scoff the bait in peace!
