We have a Meta alarm system installed in our van. If we disconnect the engine battery will that stop the alarm accidentally going off in extremely high winds etc?

Probably not, but that's only a guess. The alarm will have an internal back up battery and with ours, different make, if it is set and the vehicle battery was disconnected this would set it off as it would detect this as tampering.

Just give it a try is all I can suggest. You could try rocking the vehicle by pushing it from the side to simulate wind. :)

More than toes wet now!
Our alarm system, as John says, activates if the vehicle battery is disconnected (assuming it's armed).

You could try rocking the vehicle by pushing it from the side to simulate wind. :)
I'm sure Sandra could think of alternatives to that testing method!

Why not just switch the alarm off for a while when high winds are expected?
That is what I've done in the past.
It achieves the same result as disconnecting the vehicle battery, without attendant hassles.
