Bill,
I would never make comment on anybody's grammar, I have read all your posts with great interest.
The post was referring to you and little one playing on water and the last thing you would need was 'flooding'.
Hence the smilie.
If I have offended, I apologise, but rest assured I shall carry on reading.
Geoff.

Just back from the hospital appointment with the consultant he could not be happier that i have taken up kayaking agane
He say that it will tone up my mussels and help to prevent a shoulder dislocation again by tightening up my mussels and ligaments that holed the shoulder in place.
I have Ben taking it easay till i had seen him but the x rays show complete bonding of the bone and repair the screws are covering over with bone and are fully integrated with the repair.
The socet shows no sign of damage there is no indication of any arthritic complications.
It feals grate and cant wait to test it out now properly only ben going on the water for short periods of time i will now build up my activity.;
to strengthen both my sholdrers.
Ben wanting to try out my sculling and roiling but till i got the all clear from the dock was resisting the urge to do any damage.
watch out all those river i have Ben away from for all those years bills back

Hi Bill

Its great that you are getting the wee man into canoeing, you will find that Slalom has changed a lot from your day, gone are the dedicated slalom boats, i believe you can turn up and paddle anything.

I did more C2 than C1, we were premier div in C2 but not as good as it sounds, I think we even got to be ranked 4th behind Jock and Bluebell, Jamieson and Williams and the Smith's from memory.

Happy days.

i know that section of river very well i (swam) meant paddled it enough during my L 4 instructors coerce with the jsmtc at ripen training camp
it was one of the training arias and can get very big when a lot of water falls on the Yorkshire moors.
although it has got wider at that section the lime stone band is one of a kind to that part of the river and dose not appear on any other river i have paddled that's the geologist coming out in me.
i love studying the geology of the river banks gorges as i go down them

Hi Bill

We were a Scout camp a few (many) years ago upstream of Masham, they had a cloud burst up in the hills and we had one of those mini bores come through, only about a 6 or 12 inch wall of water but clear in front and muddy brown behind with little twigs and branches all mixed in, after that it just kept rising till there must have been a good 6 foot more(y) time to go play at Slengiford launch above the island and surf the big waves:LOL:

I was an instructor/leader with the Scouts but my brother was 10 years younger but getting to be a good paddler, we had another good paddler with us but he didn't know this so was a bit worried, he said stay below the island in the slack water NO straight out into the middle and sitting on the wave surfing for a good 5 minutes, the other guy looked at me and said I think he is OK.

Oh yes,

Our usual winter trip was Romaldkirk down to Cotherstone, the Tees white water race course, sometimes we would go up and do rescue on the widens croft section.

Below Barney is Abbey rapids, in the winter, in flood, and getting dark and YES bloody scary, not so bad in the daylight and sensible water levels.

Our club Tees Kayak Club used to run the slalom at Whorlton which is a few more miles further down than the Abbey gorge section, Whorlton falls was quite an innocent enough looking waterfall but had a reputation for drowning people, we ran the event above the falls to give people an incentive to stay in their boats.
