Mersey tunnel

Just had a couple of days over on the Wirral and got to give credit to the Mersey tunnels staff. On the way there. really cheerful bloke asks were we going and have a good trip. Thought it was a one off thing but then just had the same off a very pleasant young lady on the way back. 1st class service

Was that at the toll pay booth ?
Most scousers are friendly unless you have a MUFC sticker on the car lol

As a local resident who has used the tunnel many times I usually do find the staff to be friendly and helpful too.

Now I have the Fast Tag to allow me to just drive through and payment is taken from my online account I don’t have any interactions with the toll booth staff.

Also my PVC still classes as Class 1 (cheapest non-motorbike class) and as a local resident I get a reduced toll of £1 each way.

I am also always surprised how friendly the Eurotunnel staff are when you get off , always a wave and it must be thousands a day.

we once went up to the pay booths by mistake (long story). We couldn't turn around (our big van and cars behind). We stopped at the barrier and pressed for help. A man came over, I was expecting him to be angry. I said we don't want to go through but will if we have to. He said no, then proceeded to stop the traffic in both directions, opened the barrier and guided us in a u turn. Smiles all the way

Compare and contrast with the time I got to the pay booth on the Belfast to Dublin toll and didn't have any euros......only pounds. Not such a good experience!
